Hilarious.. They clean-out the EI and CPP funds (that they still owe the money on) and pay debt cause trudeau senior drove th ecountry to the brink of bankruptcy.
So, all they did was change who they owed the money to, right?... Didn't really pay the debt at all

They should have eliminated EI, CPP and OAS.
The provinces should also do away with welfare.

That would include all money's put in by our employers on our behalf, as well as ourselves, with interest compounded.
Harper did address the EI raid by shortening benefit periods and hiking rates due to shortage of funds in reserve to now where there is a surplus big enough for Trudie to raid again.
EI has been in surplus since then and the cons used those surpluses as well.
36 cents of every dollar taken in was paid in interest on the debt. Investments were rightly reduced to fix the most pressing issue at the time. In 1997 they began to process of reforming the CPP and why they created the CPPIB. I’m surprised you and Peter aren’t on it given you’re both economic geniuses.
They did a good job of getting the footing placed for future investments. What governments did after them isn’t their fault.
