If he has nothing to hide, what does he fear by not coming forth and proving everyone wrong?

Wednesday's Child said:
Of course not, because in so doing, the safety and security of the United States would be violated - another "promise" the president must make in order to carry out his job.

I think not said:
He doesn't have to necessarily go on a marketing campaign, he can invite those with doubts in the Senate, and show them behind closed doors whats going on, I would personally feel more at ease if there were a consensus from Congress rather than taking the Presidents word for it.

Screw the doubters....this is a matter of national security (and it isn't just your nation depending on that either). :)

Could it be early electioneering we are seeing here, and no doubt why all the racket from Gore?

Should the person running the free world be subject to the whims of the opposing party, unnecessarily?

Who cares if he is, the substance still remains.

Yes. And it isn't unnecessarily.

OKOK I understand what you are saying. We simply disagree.

I have picked "white" cardboard (because you are a purist) and red lettering because your state is red....

The font is called "doubtfully frantic" and I will do at least 48" point!

Please wear a special hat so we'll recognize you on the evening nooz in case they don't capture the poster???
George doesn't need my validation anyway.... I'd rather make a poster for you.

K?

No you don't understand, otherwise we wouldn't be disagreeing.

Oh, I'm not pure at all, and my state is blue.

Don't waste your time on a poster, WC. Spend the time learning about the US Constitution since you will be going for your citizenship soon, and ask the interviewer while you are there, if its ok breaking laws, the answer may surprise you to the extent of offering him a hat.

Does it not state in the rules of Common Law, that everyone is presumed innocent until proven guilty?

I guess that's where I'm coming from. The onus is on those who say he did something wrong, not for the President to provide it because Al Gore "thinks" something is amiss....

Well ITN

I am used to doing "Red" lettering - sorry. Thought Dems liked Red and didn't realize N.Y. is Blue - Sincere Blue right?

Have taken the test - got two wrong in 100 questions - way more than necessary but the interviewer was having a good time to see if I could get through the whole thing. I was surprised at how many Americans could not answer the most simple questions and because it was on line is available to anyone to review.

I am still wading through the Constitution and its Amendements - it takes a while because I am slow.

About our "disagreement" you are asking the wrong questions of Bush ITN - there are some questions which are sacrosanct and if you can't handle that, you are best thinking as you do. He is definitely the wrong man for you.

No need to get exercised - let time show us how this plays out.
History - if not rewritten to suit ideologies has the answers for us.

I prefer a guy who is stubbornly refusing to bend to politics when the security of the nation is at stake. I understand what I need to know very well.

Yes Jay it does, the Fifth Amendment also states a persons right to remain silent. Now back to the world of politics, he has been accused of breaking the law, what better way than to shut everybody up by proving them wrong, which would also incidentally, make them look like assholes.

In addition His Excellency King George the Second never forgets to mention, that honest law abiding citizens have nothing to fear. So, in conclusion if he doesn't practice what he preaches, he is nothing less than a hypocrit. Now if he has the nations security in mind, I can respect that, so, call a leader or two that have their doubts and put everything to rest. Why is this so complicated?

How can you assume you believe it would be ok for George Bush to reveal what he knows to the public?

What if it involved complex military data, security issues of our military - even those in Afghanistan (yes the coalition).... because he somehow has command of many people at the touch of a button and for him to reveal this kind of information which is probably highs security in nature, would be a slap in the face of those who work diligently to protect the people.

If you want a guy who is going to bend over for everyone...well I won't go there...

You are aguing semantics and goody-two-shoes stuff instead of
ugly dangerous war stuff. It is how 9/11 happened....because Clinton wanted to be loved by everyone.

Blue, as it was intended. I know nothing of Red other than when I blush.

Congratulations :D :hello1:

It's taken me over a decade to fully comprehend the Constitution, it's Amendments and perhaps even more importantly, The Federalist Papers and various writings from our Founding Fathers.

I am entitled to an answer, as long as he doesn't answer the question, he only hurts his reputation as a responsible leader.

Agreed, hey we got one :D

Now you won't hear me argue this point you're making, I prefer someone to that effect also, but when such a serious issue is raised, it needs to be addressed.

We're going arond in circles, I already stated that he doesn't need to say anything in public.

ITN hug hug kiss kiss Thanks for the congrats!

I still have to take the Oath but they are slow because the FBI have the paperwork now and they are swamped. If they know what a bad ass I am.... lol

I went looking for something to make you feel better because I know I have pushed your buttons.... here is something just off the wires....

http://www.breitbart.com/news/na/060115224915.gnooc354.html

I don't know where this will end up but Specter seems to be a pretty fair guy. I just have to turn this kind of thing over to those who are in a better position to know....that's all I mean....and it would be suicide for Bush to conceal something which wasn't necessarily threatening to the people, but because of politics.

[edit]Perjury is not protected by the Constitution. In contrast, president's executive powers as Commander-in-Chief cannot be limited by statute. Even assuming arguendo that FISA did restrict the president, the post-9/11 declaration of war by Congress is broad enough for the executive branch to engage in the monitoring of international phone calls involving U.S. citizens.

I'll share a little story with you, when my mother went to take her oath (US Supreme Court in Brooklyn), myself and my sisters went with her. She was so nervous, because her English isn't all that perfect, she understands pretty much everything, but a little more difficult to reply. Anyway, we sat in the back while the people were in the front of the courtroom taking their oath. I will never forget what the judge said to them, "It is on honor and a privelege to welcome all of you, from every corner of the globe, it is you, that make up America". My mother, couldn't stop crying, it is a very special moment I think for everyone, because it is a choice. I think it will be an experience for you also. Congratulations again.

Thanks for the link and all that other stuff, in the end, everyone wants the same thing, what is good for Americans, we just have a different view on how to go about it. All is well though, debate is healthy :D

That was a lovely story about your mother - it is moving - even taking the oral test made me study and I was grateful at least I had English on my side. Do you know how tough it must be for those whose language is not English? Such determination the immigrants have to make it right.

The illegal question here makes me crawl because so many of the lost ones will never know the experience of choice and doing it the right way.

You are right ITN - we all want the same things. That is why we argue - which is a whole lot healthier than being sheep and following the crowd, or fighting in more cruel ways.

Choice is the ultimate gift we have in our world. We must ensure we make the best ones we can in all things.

Just to answer your first question, yes I know, I had to tutor my mother on US History and the three branches of the US Government, in English!!!

She still brings it up, and guess what her revenge has been for being strict on teaching her english? Yep, she goes and votes for Bush!!!! 8O
