A new artificial intelligence unit may be the key to early Alzheimer's disease diagnosis.
Researchers from the University of Bari in Italy have developed an algorithm that can spot tiny structural changes in the brain which are typically caused by the disease. This could allow doctors to diagnose the disease 10 years before symptoms begin appearing.
The researchers trained their AI using MRI scans – 38 from Alzheimer's patients and 29 from healthy patients. They had the AI analyze the scans before developing an algorithm to spot the abnormalities. It was then tested on 148 subjects.
According to Engadget, the AI was able to correctly diagnose Alzheimer's disease 86% of the time. It was also able to detect mild cognitive impairment 84% of the time.
While Alzheimer's disease has no cure, there is treatment that can slow down the progression. According to the International Business Times, these treatments are more effective if started earlier.
There are other techniques that have been developed to detect early Alzheimer's but most are invasive and expensive.

The dementia associated with some diseases (such as this particular one) was reverses by changing sleeping patterns so the patient got longer sleeps rather than running on short naps. Old age is incurable, diseases have causes so they have cures. This is making people take meds before they even show signs of being sick and if you don't think that opens the door to abuse you are a retard.

For Sleep Changes | Alzheimer's Association
Common sleep changes

Many people with Alzheimer’s experience changes in their sleep patterns. Scientists do not completely understand why this happens. As with changes in memory and behavior, sleep changes somehow result from the impact of Alzheimer’s on the brain.
Many older adults without dementia also notice changes in their sleep, but these disturbances occur more frequently and tend to be more severe in Alzheimer’s. There is evidence that sleep changes are more common in later stages of the disease, but some studies have also found them in early stages.
Sleep changes in Alzheimer’s may include:
Difficulty sleeping. Many people with Alzheimer’s wake up more often and stay awake longer during the night. Brain wave studies show decreases in both dreaming and non-dreaming sleep stages. Those who cannot sleep may wander, be unable to lie still, or yell or call out, disrupting the sleep of their caregivers.
Daytime napping and other shifts in the sleep-wake cycle. Individuals may feel very drowsy during the day and then be unable to sleep at night. They may become restless or agitated in the late afternoon or early evening, an experience often called “sundowning.” Experts estimate that in late stages of Alzheimer’s, individuals spend about 40 percent of their time in bed at night awake and a significant part of their daytime sleeping. In extreme cases, people may have a complete reversal of the usual daytime wakefulness-nighttime sleep pattern.

Naps longer than 2 hours is the minimum to qualify as 'sleep'. You need about 6 hours of sleep per day, it doesn't matter what time of the day it happens. If you sleep during the day then find some activity to do when you can't sleep at night, that is a no brainer really rather than it being an ailment.

DEMENTIA WARNING: Sleeping for more than nine hours a night 'puts you at higher risk'

PEOPLE who start sleeping for more than nine hours a night in older age are twice as likely to develop dementia, according to new research.

Total fuking bullshit from the first word to the very last. How about the 'old research' where it didn't exist except in rare cases and natural cures were available, like getting the right amount of rest and not taking a handful of meds every day.

More likely sleeping less than that could cause dementia in a decade. Have a person with dementia get 6-8hrs of sleep for a week and their dementia will have gone. The drugs old people take will cause dementia like symptoms as a side effect, when that happens they usually increase the dosage rather than backing off.

Old people naturally get sensitive to meds so an adult should start off at a dose meant for a child rather than at the max for what an adult should be able to take.

News flash, the health of the elite is important to the elite, everybody else is a lab rat and used that way as much as possible.

More of your sad tired agenda?? Bad enough you start talking like a liar now you start acting the part. Not a huge surprise to anybody but you. Are youn insinuating you never post anything that should be 'addressed' as anything but a stellar post? Try posting a few and see if your theory holds any water.

He/she/it follows me around insulting me all the time, so I just give it back to him/her/it.
