There will be no U.S. military static displays or flying demonstrations this year at Abbotsford. The American military contribution has been a large part of this airshow since it started but this year, for the first time, they will not be participating. There will still be a good airshow....just without the American military.

Considering the cost, I'm surprised they'd participated in the first place.

Funny you should say that. They've been at every Abbotsford Airshow since it started. They just won't be at this one.

I know. I'd seen one as a kid in Abbotsford. My point is, it's surprising that they'd participated in the first place for all these yeatrs. considering the cost to the US taxpayer, what was the point of it for them in terms of value for US taxpayers' money?

So it's actually not surprising they're pulling out. It's surprising it took this long.

I'm quite sure the Abbotsford Airshow pays the fuel costs for the performers. The other costs in
my estimation, would be money well spent.

They haven't been flying at Abbotsford for ages. Now no static displays. No biggie.

petros, you are just wrong. There has always been a U.S. military flying presence at Abbotsford. Usually, there is the Blue Angels or the Thunderbirds. If neither of the U.S. flying teams were there, there was always a demo flight of their latest fighter or cargo plane or helicopter. Too bad...I'll miss the American contribution.

There hasn't been flying displays since 2004.

I do go every year.

More BS. I've been to every Abbotsford Airshow except the two years I was in Winnipeg back in the seventies. I just happen to be holding the airshow programs for the last ten years. Last year they demo'd the Super Hornet and the F-16. The year before that we had the USAF Thunderbirds. The year before that we had demo flights of the F-15 and the A-10. Btw, we had the USAF Thunderbirds in 2005 as well. Argue about something you know.

PS there was also a year when there was no airshow....

Kent Pietch will be there again this year: The picture below is one of his better
known tricks. It looks like he is dragging a wing in the dirt......what he really did
was to just touch the ground with the wing to rupture a bag of flour at the end of
the wing and it looks like he is dragging the wing in the dirt for twenty feet or so.
It sure impressed me.
