I'm sure there is not one soldier past, present, and future that would fight for the right to get pissed on when they die. I don't think that is the freedom they had in mind.

Just because they have the freedom to piss on a memorial doesn't make it okay to do it.

When Diefenbaker scrapped the Arrow

I promised myself I would piss on him or his grave wherever it was. Alas, I haven't done it yet. There was a new statue of Dief in the Parliament building grounds when my wife and I were there two years ago. I thought that would be a reasonable proxy but I never got around to it.

Peeing on an ATM machine is a more than reasonable response. :p

lmao!!!! yeah Diefenbaker was a moron, economically and generally. To those of you who defend conservatives, Diefenbaker was also one of the most radically anti-American PM's Canada had during the 20th centry and wanted to cancel trade with the USA, until the Americans bitched and cryed and Canadians did as well.

Diefenbaker was a conservative stuck in the 19th and 18th centry mantality.

Edit:

Oh and I think we should have a Canadian Armed forces honour guard at the monument. This is the least we can do to honour our people who have died for our nation in the past.

I don't see any problem with this, they didnt destroyed anything, peeing isnt dangerous, and more importantly those soldiers who are dead, fought for freedom, in fact they fought for the freedom of those who can pee where and when they want.

"It's absolutely disgusting -- absolutely disgusting," said Bob Butt, the director of communications for the Royal Canadian Legion.

Les Peate, 77, a Korean War veteran and the national president of the Korea Veterans Association, said ignorant behaviour is an unfortunate exception to the "pretty overwhelming" respect younger generations typically show for veterans.

"I feel very sorry that there are just a few of these idiots, a very small minority, doing this," he said.

I am sorry , but those who are ignorants and idiots, are those who support this stupid war on the witches, i mean terror, and supports war based on a lie, which is a real disgrace.

I think I summed people like you up best when I said:

Anyone that has ever been to Ottawa, and stood in the shadow of this massive tribute to courage, honour, and dedication to duty, cannot help but be moved by the poignant act of remembrace it implies. Then again, the same people who would urinate on such a symbol, would probably have no idea what i'm talking about.

so they identified them.

what'dya figure?

I say they get boot camp and each have to write a decent history of Dieppe, Juno Beach or the Hong Kong prisoners before they get off the hook.

although my personal favorite is when Tecumseh walked his warriors through the clearing and made them circle back and keep doing it until the guys in the fort thought they were outnumbered.

As for me, the only national monument I've ever urinated on, was an ATM machine at a Canada Trust branch.

back in the day me and the bottle boys would occassionally go out of our way to write our names on the back doors of the old high school.

Amazing. I was having a conversation yesterday about that with a co-worker, and we both couldn't remember who was the one who orcastrated the whole deception. Nice timing Bitwhys.

Isn't that story a screamer?

I wish they could all be settled that way.

Glad I could help.

Same thing happened in the American civil war. Was thought up by a confederate, but was still a brilliant tactic.

I have to admit that I'm not terribly surprised that this happened. There were tens of thousands of people there and it seemed like 99% of them where I was standing* were drunk or stoned teenagers - i.e the 'stupid' demographic. Seeing their own pictures on the front pages of the newspapers and on tv must have come as quite a surprise to these young 'gentlemen.'

It is not a "national disgrace"

We are talking about a few useless twats who obviously don't know, or care, what that memorial means to most Canadians. For every dickhead that wants to urinate on the memorial, there are a hundred thousand or so who want to keep it a sacred place where we remember those who died. These idiots should be locked up for a while and then be given toothbrushes and soap and water to clean up their mess.

Right on Juan (once again)

Couldn't a sayed it more better like.

:D
