Aren't they? Seems animals know a great deal more than we know. Quite smart they are. They don't war on each other, oh yes they rut around but that's for real important things like sex.

My wife Jan doesn't exactly find them amazing.

Jan is a real green thumb gardener who can generally grow anything. The trouble is that the deer eat just about everything she grows, including things deer are not supposed to eat. Jan's grandmother brought some rose cuttings from England around the turn of the century.(last century) Jan's mother babied these roses through at least fifty Ottawa winters. Jan has brought cuttings from these roses every time we've moved. Twice, deer have eaten these roses down to the ground. We now have a six foot wire fence around them and I've hidden the shotgun. :p

You would have gotten a kick out our backyard the other morning. Our backyard opens onto a large wooded area. At the very back of our lot there is a rock outcropping that slopes up into the trees at about thirty degrees. Yesterday morning the motion sensor turned on the back door light at about five AM. I looked out the window and there was no less than seven deer in our back yard. Two big bucks(ten or twelve pointers) jousting, and the other five watching. Forgetting that the window was wide open, I called Jan to get me the camera but they heard me and bounded off into the trees.

See that sounds beautiful, and no rifles to spoil the moment, the only shot to be taken would be a picture.
