A challenge to our dear Christian friends.

Hmm... The quality of this exchange in the last two pages has dropped to a level where I no longer feel inclined to take part. You know, mrgrumpy, that I'm inclined to agree with you in principle, but you're getting a little too abrasive and drawing a similar level of comment from others. I'm out, unless the tone improves pretty soon.
So now that I've pretty much covered the 70 weeks, can you see why I lean to that period being over?
When Revelation mentions 'shortly' it is usually associated with time. Why couldn't that also be applied to a 'list'. If i have a list of 10 things to do, and #5 is fairly important would I use the word shortly to describe when I would get to that point. Jesus gave a fairly long list in that sermon on the Mount of Olives. Tribulation being one such thing on the list. The 1st four trumps would seem to be mentioned as being events before tribulation (signs in the heavens, etc.)
All the words from 'the time is at hand' until the 1st trump unloads is information only, there are no events taking place. They are words to those who will be there to see those events and a few words about events that will be key markers to the events when they begin to unfold.
If you were to say your comments on this will be coming shortly, should I expect a quick reply or should I expect a pause for as long as it takes you to cover a few points (like the 70 weeks) that you want to cover before you get to the last point?

I didnt have time to read this whole forum and so i just want to say to the person who posted the first message: God is not discriminating against women and children and whatever else you said. He tells women to obey their husbands that doesn't mean he is discriminating, also God hates homosexuals. IT IS AN ABOMINATION TO OUR LORD AND FATHER, he made us a certain way so that we could do certain things to make children, engaging in homosexual acts is pretty much telling God that you don't like the way God made us and this is WRONG, also i just want to say God rejocieth when hee wins back a lost sheep(you) from the herd(us) but if you never come back he gives up loving you and thats why you are sentanced to hell because you would rather commit earthly sins and consort with the Devil than follow our Lord and savior and so he gives you to the devil whom you love so much. Please reconsider and become a Christian, preferably a protestant but any will do because i believe God loves all Christians, though i dont know why Catholics pray to Mary that confuses me

He hates a lot of other things too, if killing, slaughtering, tormenting, drowning, stoning, beheading, enslaving,maiming and torturing are the acts of a loving God - he hates women, children , the poor, the weak, the rich, the colonized, the foreigner... it's such a lenghthy list.
Fortunately, your god is only a figment of your imagination.
Did I say he was a loving God? God created us to worship him, when we disobey and stop believeing in him , or challenging him (like you are) then he begins to get angry. He is not a loving God he is a jealous God that wants us to go to heaven and even sacrificed his own son for this cause but if you keep sinning and dont ask forgiveness and repent then you are going to hell. He loves people who follow what he wants them to do, when you start to sin and quit asking forgiveness then he till loves you and trys to win you back, but after you sin for a long time and lose your conscience then he has given up. God is with every one of us and i believe that he is with us in the form of our conscience, telling us what is right or wrong. God is not a loving God he does to us what we deserve and even cheats a little to help us along but he isnt and has never been a loving God that loves you no matter what you do. He loves you to a point and if you dont return the love and thank him then you go to hell its that simple
In what way is he tempermental or foolish? He sends to hell the people that deserve to go to hell. If you are a good Christian your name appears in the Book of Life, when we get to heaven God looks at the book of life if your name is not in the book then you go to hell. That is not cruel or foolish at all, it is fair

What? First of all he is not a man. A man cannot do the things that God has done. If religion is all just one big fake story i have a few questions for ya. First who would be intelligent enough to create a story as complex and one that matches history as correctly as the Bible. It fits in perfectly with the history of the world. Did you know that the book of Genesis predicts slavery? Also, if not God, who created the earth and humanity? where did all that come from? What about your conscience? Huh? why is it that we as humans are the dominant life force on the planet? why aren't we like animals without the ability to form our own opinions? You want to know why? Because GOD created us that way. Yes God, he exists. How can you prove he doesn't
How have i not proven that he exists? Look at the facts, the Bible predicted slavery, also, ill ask you again, who created the earth? GOD DID! why do humans have the ability to think for themselves and not follow instincts like animals do? becuase of GOD! Why did all those generations of people believe in Christianity? because its true! Now would you please give me a reason that disproves the existince of an all-knowing, all-present being?

My goodness, such puffed up certainty that you "have proven something", when at best you have given us another fairy tale regurgitation of one of the Genesis stories - even those are contradictory...I particularly like your excited statement "because it's true''... this reminds me of a child's temper tantrum insisting that a fluffy Easter Bunny REALLY DID leave those eggs under the bed.
Does all this puffed up certainty that fairy tales can be true have any significance for a poster under the US flag icon insisting that Dubya is just the best darn thing since fuel injection even though the poor dim wit invaded a country that had nothing to do with 9/11?
