RE: A Canadian's view of

Canada is an experiment, a work in progress that defies definition , a constant questioning, we seek to avoid
dangerous concrete conclusions, being able to define a nation condemns it to that definition. Mountains and lakes and the usual geographic description do not define a nation nor it,s ethos. Should we ever arrive at concrete conclusions
we are finished. Rebellious is the definition I like best.

Exactly.... Being a Canadian is a Journey... not a definition...

so one creates a concept and worships it. the danger is in the emotional inflating of the reality of the creation.

I don't worship Canada... but I can romantically revel in her dramatic beauty... without those romanic aspirations and vision... there would be no art, no music, no creativity the world over.

So if you prefer to view Canada as just a "box" to stuff things as a part of a larger "construct"... go right on ahead... While you figure out the purpose of every cog in the set of gears... I will be out in the sand dunes of the Pinery Provincial Park late in the evening watching the stars appear in a sun faded, dark red/blue sky and listening to the quiet, soothing sound of the waves of Lake Huron tumble and crash on the sandy shores.
For that we have the Freedom.

...and that my friend is "Real".

It's awesome there... I am about 30 min drive from there... I like Port Franks too... IMHO it's better than Grand Bend.

Just a side note... The Pinery is pretty cold this time of year. I was working in Bayfield yesterday and Grand Bend on Monday.. They have snow and we don't.

I'm in London and I head up that way every so often....I sure like Huron more than Lake Erie.

Grand Bend is great if your 18, other than that...

I saw Great Big Sea at the Grand bend Motorplex last year though...

Same here ... Port Stanley is alright ... but Lake Huron rocks for water and beach quality...

I go to Grand Bend Motorplex all the time... I have a 1980 Pro Street Camaro... new motor going in it this winter... hope to be racing there this spring.

I used to own a 78 Z28....350 SB, 4 bolt main. Great car for racing around the country side in!

Huron is the best lake, that's for sure.

Hey, maybe some time when your racing I will drop by the Motorplex and let you buy me beer all day!

Canada... is my home.

Whereas, Australia is my aunts, America is my moms...

I live, I breathe, I dream... about Canada.

Its my safe haven... the place where I know I'll always be free... never worrying about being like someone else..

I can have my religion... my culture... my nature... my everything... all in a package.. that was given to me when I was born.

Yeah; Canada has its imperfections, but like everyone has already said... NO nation is perfect.

To me... Canada is perfect.. it offers me the things I need to grow up... eduction, healthcare ... etc.

What else would you like me to say? I mean, I'm only a teenager with little or NO knowledge about things.. as most people say. But I do know... that living in Canada I will.. NEVER have to go through the things other people have to go through... cuz my ancestors chose to come to Canada... and that...... was a wise choice.

Let's just agree Canada exists as a political structure, there is no issue if Canada exists or not caracal, 6 billion people, give or take a few, acknowledge it's existance. Stop hijacking my thread, I would sincerely like to hear opinions.

it is canada that is perceived to exist because of it!

I understand what you are saying about "tribal borders" and Canada being an imaginary line ... it is also an imaginary line which is guarded to a degree.

But only in "Canada" have I found the rolling plains of Saskatewan and the Tides of the Bay of Fundy or the dunes of the Pinery... thats not to say there isn't other places in the world with plains, tides or dunes ... among other things.. from small towns to good people... but "Canada" is my home, it is my shelter from the rising world tide of fear and oppression, it is clean, it is REAL and it is tangible... I don't dwell my time away pondering the existence of a greater good and how all this world came to be or even my own "spiritual being" in the way you do...

Life is to be lived! soak up what you have at your fingertips and then give it all away... So what ... you figure that one out ... we're all very proud... now get out and experience what this vast, open land holds secret to her!

Your Douglas Adams/Carlos Castaneda views are terrific ... but I left that fanasty world when I got out of high school so many years ago and found a very real place to dwell...
CANADA.. IMHO the greatest geographical and political place on the planet we call Earth!
