Think how many jobs that will open up? Minus the ones currently taking of welfare and immigrants. They will become the next unemployed, . . . with zero benefits.

You honestly believe that one swaps out for the other? Trump really bamboozled you, didn't he?

You really gotta get some comprehension skills. I said that is the theory. Probably works well on a computer model too. But I doubt that the majority of welfare recipients would be capable of even showing up on time never mind doing anything so complicated as putting coffee in a cup and serving it to someone. Or watering a lawn.

Sorry, but you can't legislate unskilled workers out of the labour market by raising the minimum wage and then blame them for not being able to find work... or at least legal work that doesn't pay below the table to circumvent minimum wage laws.

So, do you want then to work illegally or go by the book and apply for social assistance? With the minimum wage in place, take your pick.

Who said anything about raising the minimum wage?
If there are jobs out there then anyone physically fit to work should have to take that job or be cut off welfare.

Yes, because all those Michigan folks will line up to do the jobs the illegals have been doing.

I wonder if Eaglesmack even has any experience picking lettuce.

Of course there is. Just because you don't understand the reasons, doesn't mean there aren't reasons
ES can pick corn in Iowa.

Simple solution. Put all those f*ckers at Club Fed to work instead of having them sitting around on their fat a$$es all day.

Unfortunately using convicted criminals as slave labour does not work very well, primarily because it takes jobs away from honest citizens who actually need a job. Such a program has been tried in various US states for decades and it always results in higher unemployment levels. The trick to properly using convict labour is finding something for them to do that does not take away somebody else's job.

Why? A green pepper by air from Asia by air freight or a green pepper from California by truck.

Which is cheaper?

Probably the Asian one when you consider what the Californians have to go through to wring irrigation water out of semi-desert to grow the pepper.

In the case of an unskilled worker, would that include work under the table to circumvent the minimum wage?
