I recently learned I have a lien on my (jointly owned) house from 40 years ago, apparently still there? Does anyone know who could put a lien this long? I sure can't remember?
And shouldn't they have to send bills first to you? I obviously needed legal advice then, didn't understand. Sure don't remember it. Thanks for ANY help.

A lien is for as long as you own the property or until.the bill is paid. It is possible that you paid the bill, but never had the lien removed. If you didn't ask for it, the lien doesn't get removed. You could probably go to the courthouse, plead poverty so they don't charge you too much and petition the court to have the lien removed do to the time frame.
