No. Flipping burgers is not a real job. It will never ever pay a decent wage for the simple fact that if the price of burgers goes up too much there will be no market, which means no jobs. Now this could change if governments cut back on how much of our paycheques they steal leaving more money for discretionary spending. By the time all forms of taxation are added in most are in the 50% tax range. We need industrial jobs because they can pay a decent wage with benefits.
They aren't pretend jobs and are real to me. Just as learning in school is a part of life, starter jobs are real jobs teaching kids about the economical parts of life.
The rest I agree with. Gov't wastes an awful lot. It's one reason why I am a minarchist and dislike representative democracy. I'd rather have small gov't and direct democracy.

No, it's a fact.

But, you are more than welcome to school all of us with some kind of proof
Bullshyte.
How do you think the wage gap spreads if it isn't by the powers that be spreading profits according to imbalanced scales?

Direct democracy leads to mobocracy as evidenced in France starting July 14, 1789 and ending when Napoleon crowned himself emperor.

Walter brought forward one variable that was a large contributor to poverty - single parenthood.

Further, your assumption that all business' are highly profitable is not accurate.... Take a look at the tax system in this country. Add in the regulatory environment, politics, lobby groups, etc.

The majority of business' in Canada (especially when it comes to employing folks) are small local businesses, the kind where the owners are in there each and every day..... There are no giant profits to be handed out to investors or shareholders - that owner hopes to make enough to pay the bills, inventory, staff, taxes (a myriad of 'em) and maybe enough to raise their family.

That's a lame spin. I didn't assume that, I merely generalized about big biz. And yes, I know specifically, there are those that don't profit in a big way.

And yes, I know about small and medium businesses.

Not necessarily.

as evidenced in France starting July 14, 1789 and ending when Napoleon crowned himself emperor.
So you'd rather that people are represented by the few that implement stuff that is harmful to majorities? Brilliant.

Direct democracy is "one person, one vote" and yet you disagree with that.

Direct democracy is the closest thing to the people of a country having the power rather than the government, and yet you disagree with it.

Workers at the lower end of the pay scale finally are getting the most benefit from rising wages
https://www.cnbc.com/2019/03/13/wor...e-getting-most-benefit-from-rising-wages.html
Wage gap is narrowing in Trump’s economy.
From your link, "“Our findings suggest scope for continued firm overall wage growth, given that lower income wage growth is more cyclical and persistent, and given potential room for further acceleration in high income wages,” Goldman economist David Choi said in a research note."
So the wage growth is more cyclical than due to anything Trump's done.

"For instance, retail industry employees saw an increase of 5 percent and leisure and hospitality earnings rose 4.6 percent from February 2018. At the same time, professional and business services workers gained 2.8 percent while Wall Street-related positions in finance increased just 2 percent.
On a broader level, the current labor market dynamics were missing for most of the recovery and are pointing to the kind of inflation that policymakers at the Federal Reserve have been waiting for."
No mention of blue collar worker wages. Blue-collar as in manufacturing, infrastructure, research and development, etc.

3.2 million is a lowball number. capitalists always manipulate the way they define poverty in order to make it seem like most people are prospering, which is far from the reality.

POOR SOCIALIST FOOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It was Chretien LIE-berals who altered the definition of what was considered "full time work"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Under Conservatives - you worked full time if you had at least 40 hours decently paid work per week!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yet it was CHRETIEN LIE-berals WHO ALTERED THE WAY EMPLOYMENT NUMBERS WERE COUNTED.....................

os you were considered to be fully employed IF YOU WORKED TWENTY EIGHT HOURS PER WEEK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And NO MATTER that you could not live on it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And it was Chretien LIE-berals who decided those UNPAID INTERNSHIPS MIGHT BE GOOD FOR KIDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Too bad that in our LIE-beral "BOOMING ECONOMY" being an unpaid intern IS ALMOST A REAL CAREER CHOICE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Look at all the kids living back with parents and collecting welfare or unemployment!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you LIE-berals for destroying our lives with DEBT in your quest for "social justice"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OH THERE IS A BIG SOURCE OF POLITICAL CONFUSION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The burned out Ember tells us Direct Democracy is "one person, one vote"

even as her beloved civil service union HOGS WORK AROUND THAT DEAL.........................

to SABOTAGE OUR ECONMY and keep gravy grabbing LIE-berals in power...................................

by selling their votes to LIE-berals IN THAT GROSS CONFLICT OF INTEREST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If HOGS REALLY BELIEVED IN MAJORITY RULE..........................

THEN THEY WOULD IMMEDIATELY SHUT UP AND GET BACK TO SCHOOL.............................

AND STOP THEIR BIASED WAR AGAINST THE FORD GOVT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The guy WAS ELECTED BY A MAJORITY - TO REPLACE LIE-beral Wynne-bag.............................

the leader of the MOST CORRUPT AND HATED GOVT IN CDN HISTORY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yet our HOGS act like the Ford election is the SECOND COMING OF ADOLF HITLER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Or WORSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

HOG GREED HAS NO LIMITS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I didn't say they are pretend jobs. But they were never intended to raise a family and buy a house on.

WAGE GAP SPREADS AS LIE-BERALS BRIBE CIVIL SERVICE UNION HOGS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

HOW IS IT THAT A PLUMBER IN THE PRIVATE SECTOR MAKES ONE THIRD LESS..........................

THAN A PLUMBER WORKING FOR GOVT???????????????????????

HOGS NEVER EXPLAIN HOW A GOVT WORKER GETS ONE THIRD MORE - ON AVERAGE.......................

DOING THE SAME WORK AS SOMEBODY IN THE PRIVATE SECTOR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And within those LIE-beral "average numbers" there is a LOT OF ROOM FOR LIE-beral FAKE NEWS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ask - for instance - how many retail clerks in the private sector get paid.................................

for their Family Day LIE-beral mandated holiday..........................

versus the number of govt clerks WHO DO GET PAID FOR THAT DAY OFF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Or consider that City of Toronto CAN SAVE SOME MONEY on garbage collection................................

by hiring For Profit Corporations to do the work FORMERLY DONE BY HOGS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And the private corporations work on the idea that IF YOU DONT SHOW UP for work.....................

then you DONT GET PAID!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

THUS THE PRIVATE SECTOR DOES THE JOB CHEAPER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The AVERAGE CDN HOG takes three times more "sick days" than people in the private sector!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

SEVERAL DECADES BACK - Former Toronto mayor Mel Lastman stated

that Toronto Fire Dept costs COULD BE REDUCED........................

if fire dept HOGS did not take so many "sick" days!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And fire HOGS RAGED AT LASTMAN TILL HE RETRACTED THE STATEMENT............................

IN SPITE OF THE GOVT REPORT THAT PROVED TORONTO FIRE HOGS TOOK MORE "SICK" DAYS.........................

THAN ANY OTHER FIRE DEPT IN NORTH AMERICA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

TORONTO REALLY IS A HOG TOWN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

AND IS IT NOT IRONIC THAT SO MANY PEOPLE DISLIKE TORONTO..................................

AND YET THEY WANT TO BE PAID JUST LIKE TORONTO HOGS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
