Distraught Norway goalkeeper Nyland was comforted by his wife and children after England dumped Norway out of the World Cup in Miami.

It was Norway's first ever appearance in a Quarter Final of a major tournament.

After Norway took a shock lead with England having had 65% of the possession England's superior firepower prevailed and star player Bellingham scored twice to send Norway home and England into the Last 4.

At the end the upset Nyland was seen being comforted by his family...

Federal cabinet ministers, political staff and even a summer intern were among federal employees who scored FIFA freebies as Canada helped host this year’s World Cup.

Ethics filings show Prime Minister Mark Carney scored himself a tournament pass along with a swag bag full of FIFA Canada perfume, a commemorative FIFA banner and soccer ball, as well as FIFA-branded scarves, keychains and coins.

Filings via the ethics commissioner also found several free tickets were provided to the office of Liberal Burlington North-Milton West MP and Secretary of State for Sport Adam van Koeverden, according to reports published this week in Blacklock’s Reporter.

Other van Koeverden staffers given free passes to see Germany defeat Ivory Coast in Toronto on June 20 include his chief of staff, a pair of policy advisers, his operations director and a summer intern.

All attended the match to “support the Secretary of State for Sport in his official duties,” according to the findings.

Champagne said attending free games was ‘official business’
In the disclosures, van Koeverden said attendance at the game “provided an opportunity to celebrate Canada’s hosting experience,” and that hosting tournament matches has “already given Canadians memories we will remember for a generation.”

Ethics disclosures also show Natural Resources Minister Tim Hodgson scored a pair of tickets to see Algeria lose to Switzerland at B.C. Place on July 2, also reporting receiving “a gift package composed of a FIFA World Cup scarf, a FIFA delegation pin and commemorative plaque.”

A swag bag was also received by Public Safety Minister Gary Anandasangaree, who on July 2 got free tickets to see Portugal narrowly beat Croatia in Toronto.

François-Philippe Champagne used his position as finance minister to justify his free passes to see Canada take a 1-1 draw against Bosnia-Herzegovina with this operations director, as well as the June 23 Panama versus Croatia match.

“I attended in my capacity as Minister of Finance,” read his ethics disclosure.

It cost $1.07 billion in public funding for Canada to co-host this year’s World Cup with Mexico and the United States.

Tournament favourites Spain, who have been the best team at this World Cup, reach the Final having easily despatched two-time winners France.

Spain are looking good to win the tournament for a second time...

Argentina score winner with minutes to go as the two deadly rivals clash in a feisty affair

Semi-Final

England 1-2 Argentina

Mercedes-Benz Stadium, Atlanta
Attendance: 68,239

Fights, bust ups and fouls galore as two teams who everyone knows hate each other with a passion collided in the Last 4 of football's greatest tournament.

England, looking to win the tournament for a second time, were left heartbroken after their great rivals and holders scored a 92nd minute winner.

England were the better side until they took the lead in the 54th minute. After that it was all Argentina and England tried to cling on for dear life.

As usual, the Argies can only win matches at major tournaments by playing dirty and cheating.

When England loses, its always because the opponent cheats or plays dirty.

Third-place Play-off

France 4-6 England

After 10 goals and great entertainment, England are the bronze medallists

England's best finish at a World Cup since winning it in 1966

In one of the most incredible World Cup games.of all time England defeated their next door neighbours to finish third and win the bronze medal, making this England's best finish at a World Cup since they won it in 1966.

The first half saw England put in probably their best performance ever in a World Cup.

England's Saka scored a hat-trick, France's Mbappe became the World Cup's all-time leading goalscorer and England's Bellingham became the first England player to score seven goals in a World Cup.

This was two of the Top 5 ranked teams in the world coming head to head and the football both teams played was sublime at times.

Great camaraderie between the two great teams after the referee blew the final whistle in Miami Gardens.

The two sets of players exchanged friendly congratulations and condolences after the game after they entertained hundreds of millions of people around the planet with great football and ten goals

A goalfest and brilliant football by both of these great sides ended up with England finishing third of the 48 teams at this World Cup and recieving the bronze medal, their best performance at a World Cup since 1966.

France's Mbappe has overtaken Messi as the World Cup's all-time leading goalscorer and leads by two in the race for the Golden Boot. Yet Messi has still to play again tomorrow as Argentina take on Spain in the Final. What drama.

This was also France manager Didier Deschamps' last game as the French boss after 14 years. He was a member of France's 1998 World Cup winning side.

Absolutely brilliant from Bellingham to make it 6-4 to England minutes after coming on as a substitute and sealing third place for England in one of the greatest World Cup games in history.

He's one of the greatest players in the world right now and he performed that magic just after coming on.

England were the better side against Argentina in the Semis. If we didn't suddenly go defensive after taking a 1-0 lead England may well be in tomorrow's Final.

Spain win the World Cup for the second time

2026 World Cup Final

Spain 1-0 Argentina
(after extra time)

MetLife Stadium, New Jersey
Attendance: 80,663

1784508752037.jpeg

Spain have won the World Cup for the second time after a deserved victory over Argentina in the Final in New Jersey.

Spain controversially had a goal disallowed in the first half of extra time leading to the Spain fans chanting "Infantino!", the name of the FIFA President, as many football fans believe FIFA were trying to rig the tournament in favour of Argentina.

The Spanish, however, then scored at the start of the second half of extra time, the goal which won them football's greatest prize for the second time.

There was controversy at the final whistle as one or two of the dirty Argies tried to physically attack one or two Spain players.

US President Donald Trump hands out the silver and gold medals and the famous 18 carat gold trophy at the MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey.

Lionel Messi, the greatest player of our times, was in tears after receiving his silver medal. He wanted one more World Cup under his belt but hasn't got it. This may have been the last we'll ever see if him at a World Cup.
