July 23, 2025: RANDOM STUFF & LINKS FROM BANJO-LAND
This isn't exactly Bison news, but the MJHL put up an Instagram post which says their league had 65+ grads in USports in 2024-25. Too bad so few stories are being posted across the various leagues.

This blog is a local Winnipeg blog supported by a weekly radio show at UMFM. Their stories touch on a variety of local and non-local things, like the Jets signing Gabe Villardi, and this story on U-Hockey. It brings up some interesting conjecture. Their suggestions, in point form, are:
1. Remove The Paywall
2. Give Me Engaging Stories
3. Collaborate With Others
4. Go Get Big Names
5. Live Is Free; Replays Are Not
I find CWTV to be a good value, but free access would certainly open it up to new and occasional fans. Is the money being used to create better broadcasts? It seems like it has. Alberta, Sask, UBC, and Calgary are very good and the others have gotten better.
I do think that the teams could better distribute stories and player profiles. Out of 26 players, there must be several "human interest" style stories. Social media which is sparse on content and big on pictures is fine, but linking those to proper stories and links to stats etc. would be more beneficial.
I also remember, back in the day, when local TV stations would tape a game on Friday night, and broadcast it on Saturday afternoon. In the CW, that re-broadcast could be used as a commercial for the Saturday night re-match.

This is the Mutts' press release of a signing previously listed elsewhere. Thornton's past pro experience makes him a prime recruit, no doubt.

The Banjo-Cats have three stories posted, one about each of three new recruits already listed elsewhere. These three players are one of each: a goalie, a d-man, and a forward. Borsos (the goalie) is from Notre Dame of the SJHL. Jasper (the forward) played NCAA Division 3 last year, after playing for Steinbach of the MJHL. Gallant (the d-man) has WHL and AJHL experience.
