Name of potential Halifax CFL team a 'horse race' between Schooners and Storm
Hmmm. . . down in South Canada, those collective names haven't worked well, about the only really successful one being the Miami Heat and the Utah Jazz.

Wait. . . what? The Jazz in the whitest state in the country? Yep. They began as the New Orleans Jazz, which I think you'll agree makes a lot more sense.

Any of those work for me. One thing I thought of is that, like Redblacks or Lions, the name should be something that translates easily and exactly to French, to accommodate the Francophonic New Brunswickers. Names like Roughriders, Stampeders, and Blue Bombers don't translate well. Sailors, Storm, and Schooners do.

Herring Chokers!!!

Well pete, had you or I signed up for a season ticket we might have had a say. I can live with the Schooners though I do wish they had used Maritime instead of Atlantic but it is what it is. Watching Grey Cup Saturday in prep for tomorrow's game and another big win for the Redblacks...........being that I am definitely in the ABTS(anyone but the Stumps) crowd.

So Chris won Coach of the Year - good on him. I'd be even happier if I knew he was actually going to do something positive about our offense next year. Firing McAdoo and getting a couple of really competitive QBs would be a start.

For me, one of the best stories coming out of the CFL this season was that of the Ottawa Redblacks former security guard, Lewis Ward's emergence as an elite FG kicker. This time last year he could only look on from the sidelines as the Redblacks played in the Cup. This year, he will be playing in it as the RBs pre-eminent FG kicker and most deservedly so.

All-time records:
98.07% - highest ever field goal accuracy in a single season
48 - record for most consecutive FGs

This past week little #10 was named as the CFL's Most Outstanding Special Teams player and - for only the 8th time in the history of the league - doubled his winnings with the Most Outstanding Rookie of the Year.

I'm looking forward to cheering him and his team on this Sunday.

Big congrats to Laval's Rouge et Or for their 10th Vanier Cup win. Looking forward to some of these guys making the jump to the CFL following in the footsteps of many of their former team-mates who have proven records of their value to the league. Rock on Rouge et Or.

Ward is the CFL's Justin Tucker. I love it.

Add to that the sharpshooter Harris, the most productive receiver in the history of the CFL, and a solid, ballhawking defense, and the RBs have only themselves to blame if they lose.

I'm so cranked up for this! I won't be online (except maybe at the half) because I'll be focussing.

I actually like the name. It's been the name of choice in the "what if" circle for decades. I'm extremely happy to see it come to fruition.

Now we need Saskatoon and Quebec City to get teams.

I'm in the ABTS camp with Mow.

RBs do have the better chemistry to win.

Bon chance.

In the end, I really don't care what they called the team, I am just so happy to welcome another one to our league.

Quebec for sure but were I still in Sask, I'd rather see an NHL team come to Saskatoon. There has been talk of just that for years now and it would be great if it happened. But then, that's JMO.

You most certainly won't be alone cheering for your team, Tec - most Canadians tuning in for the game or attending are solidly in the RBs camp. The icing on the cake when they win will be seeing the Stumps as three times losers. Make it so Universe.

GO REDBLACKS............GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

It'll happen in Regina first. A big ass arena is in the works.

We almost bought the Blues in the 80s

After watching all of the pre-game show on TSN, I am even more pumped about this game. I went running about the house trying to find something with black and red checks - best I could do was a plaid scarf. :-:)lol: TSN ran a wonderfully moving montage on what the Cup means to the players. Rickie Ray was interviewed after the Argos won the Grey Cup - he was in tears which really touched me as Rickie is the epitome of a reticent QB when speaking in front of a camera. A whole sentence is a real accomplishment for any reporter.

I see the CFL has gone full-blown PC. Looks like there is a good turn out for the game - not too many empty seats and some portions are wall-to-wall. It will be interesting to see how many fans tune in on the tube.

Bring it on lads. Good luck. Bon chance.

RBs better clean up their act vis a vis penalties that one after the interception cost them dearly in field position and they were already well in Stumps territory.
