Zack's throwing ability is underwhelming. I thought he had a better arm. He tosses up a lot of jump balls when he goes deep. That being said, he was moving the team early in the game, but that receiver's fumble for a TD took the air out of their momentum.

All I have to say is for the Riders to sit where they do right now the rest of the league has to be pathetic.

The CFL needs a swift kick to the nuts with a frozen mukluk.

That's my pet peeve with the CFL. Unlike the NFL, where consistently doing things better than the opponent makes the difference, winning in the CFL is primarily the result of screwing up less than the other team. As well, I feel it needs a major revision of the rule book.

Following news of his impaired-driving arrest, Saskatchewan Roughriders defensive end Charleston Hughes will not play in Saturday’s game against the Calgary Stampeders.

The team made the announcement in a press release Friday morning, a day after Riders head coach and general manager Chris Jones said Hughes would be on the active roster.

The team also imposed the maximum disciplinary fine allowed under the CFL’s collective bargaining agreement (CBA).

“While the legal proceedings are still ongoing, the incident of Oct. 11 reflects negatively on the Saskatchewan Roughriders Football Club,” the team said in its statement.

“By refusing to provide a breath sample, Hughes demonstrated behaviour directly in conflict with the Club’s values and expectations — which include respecting police and police procedures.”

I'd also like to see the refs sent back to school to learn how not to miss a flagrant violation that happens right in front of them.

Riders' Charleston Hughes won't play Saturday following DUI arrest

Despite initial reports saying otherwise, the Saskatchewan Roughriders organization has announced that defensive end Charleston Hughes will not play in Saturday's game against the Calgary Stampeders.

This comes after Hughes was arrested and charged Oct. 11 with impaired driving and failing to provide a breath sample for analysis

Saskatchewan Roughriders club said Friday that it decided to remove Hughes from the active roster and has imposed the maximum disciplinary fine allowed under the collective bargaining agreement.

The club said it gathered its own information on the incident, reviewed its team rules and the CFL's collective bargaining agreement on player discipline.

"While the legal proceedings are still ongoing, the incident of Oct. 11 reflects negatively on the Saskatchewan Roughriders Football Club," a spokesperson said in a statement. "By refusing to provide a breath sample, Hughes demonstrated behaviour directly in conflict with the club's values and expectations — which include respecting police and police procedures."

Head coach and GM Chris Jones told reporters in Regina on Thursday that Hughes, who has a CFL-best 15 sacks this season, would suit up for the game.

Ti-Cats vs Redblacks for first place in the Eastern Division

At 8:36 in the opening Q, the Cats hit the board with a TD and follow that with the 1-point convert. GO CATS! It is a chilly, windy night in Ottawa and the gusts could play a factor in punts and punt returns...........it just blew the ball off the holder.

Lewis Ward just made pro-football history with the all-time record for the most consecutive FGs at 44 and, ..... put 3 on the board for the RBs. This kid is just livin' his dream. His first year of being draft eligible he was passed by every team in the league deciding to go back for another season with the Ottawa GGs where he further honed his kicking skills. A free agent this season after try-outs with the RBs in the spring he was signed on as their FG kicker and the rest in history.
After Ottawa intercepted a Masoli pass, Ottawa is held to a 3 and long attempt at the 49-yard line they then called upon Lewis once again ..............to attempt his first 52-yard FG which he aced and set yet another record for distance. No wonder they call him the 'can't miss kid from Kingston'.

Less than a minute left in the Q and Jeremiah finds Brandon in the end zone for the Cats 2nd TD of the game...........converts good - 14 - 6 Hamilton going into the 2nd Q.

Jeremiah's ability to move around in the pocket is one of the reasons why he is so successful. Zach - take note.

Once again Tasker is Jeremiah's target in the end zone for the 3rd Cat TD of the game. They now lead 22- 6.

7:07 - once again the RBs have struck pay dirt putting another 6 on the board............very uncharacteristically, Lewis missed the convert. Score: Ottawa 35 - Hamilton 31

Cats fail to put any points on the board and with the 3-minute warning just called, Ottawa has the ball at their 33 and are 2nd and 1.

RBs get the D...........Sinopoli gets them another 9.........2 and 1 - flag on the play offside Hamilton - auto first D.........Ellingson after looking like he'd be trapped behind the line of scrimmage breaks the tackle and gets another 7.....................as the clock winds down........Powell gets another 1rst D........1:42 left - after they re-set the clock.........holy shit............William Powell just ran through a pile of Cat defenders for 41 yard gain.............Powell once again with the carry fumbles and the Cats get the ball back with :45 seconds on the clock............no Brandon Banks and pretty well the length of the field to go..........McDaniels gets them out of the shadow of the goal posts for the first down..........Tasker gets them another............:24 to go and Masoli has ball batted away.........:13 to go .................Jeremiah misses his target............Cats hit with holding penalty............:07 - 2 and 20 pass fumbled Ottawa recovers and the game is over. Ottawa just nabbed 1rst place in the East. Great effort by the Redblacks coming back from a 16 point deficit. Cats sit solidly in second..........for now. Good game all in all.

Second game of Friday night's double-header features the Eskimos in Vancouver to take on the surging BC Lions.
