I heard when I woke up that team canada lost to slovakia, oh well, they had a good run, and a good team,

great experience for those guys who hadn't been there before, and good practice for the world stage, and

the olympics in 2 years.

burrows got another goal, thats 3 for him, too bad he was injured for a while, or he might have had more.

slovakia has a good team, and it will be interesting to see how they all do from here on.

better luck next time.

I noticed that Ovetchkin and Semin are joining the Russian team

too bad some of our our big guns couldn't jump in and help our team. Aginla, Crosby for a start.

Oh well, next year we'll do better...

what a **** up! Canada does seem to be an expert at taking bad penalties at the worst possible times.

what pissed me off even more is that ryan getzlaf (he's not getzlafing now) an his team mates blamed the officiating for the penalties. if it had been me who ****ed up, I would have taken full responsibility for the **** up.

I also woke to hear that Canada had lost their game against Slovakia - darn it all anyway. I was worried earlier in the tourney when the Canucks kept getting so many penalties and thought they badly needed to play a more disciplined game which obviously they didn't. They had a good run and I congratulate the team.

Cheering for Slovakia right now but the Ruskies are up by 2 goals - go Slovakia.

Many congratulations to the Slovakian team...............they played their hearts out for their fallen comrades - good on them for winning Silver.

The Russians were simply outstanding in this tourney - the Gold Medal around their necks today is highly deserved. Congratulations on a great tourney to all the teams that participated

I reserve my highest praise for Evgeni Malkin for the best year of his hockey career. Man kudos, Evgeni.

canada had a very good team representing our country. the format is kind of wierd, all those round robin games, then

a one game elimination situation, not sure if that is the best they come up with.

any team can lose one game, in my mind it doesn't really give anyone an answer about what team

is better than the other, except for the obvious weaker teams, but even they can come up with a

win from time to time.

the penalties didn't help.

I thought some kind of best of three playoff would have been better than the single game elimination but I guess I'm just whining
because we didn't win. One thing we should all agree with is that Malkin was the best player in the tourniment

yes malkin was awsome, and he was awsome all year in the NHL too.

I don't like the one game elimination thing at all. But what we should all 'not' do is trash our own team
because we weren't good enough etc., its just one game, and our team was good enough to win it all, just
as russia was and finland was and the u.s. was, its all a matter of winning the 'right' game at the 'right'
time in that format, and they didn't, and others didn't either, so 'bye bye charlie'.

Congratulations to the russians, they had the perfect tournament.
