I only knew Rotten was irish because he said so on a celeb tv program over here called "I'm a celebrity.....get me out of here"...not sure about sid though.

I agree about the monachy these days, I'm actually torn, from their historical role to their usless touristy one now

Aeon,

You are entitled to your pitiful, sad, innacurate opinion but there are primary school courses which can assist in the determination of species and I suggest a refresher since the Queen of Canada is not canine and I highly doubt you are in a position to make any determination of her character.

Well most the members of the band were indeed english and it is believed that he was born in Holloway, England, but some believe it was in Ireland. Either way it was a English Punk band.

like Hitler believed himself to be German or even pure aryan? lol

Anyhow he hated the British class system, he was an anarachist and many do not believe he was telling the truth about his orgins as being Irish seperated him further from the ruling british elite and gave him more urban extreme left creed being Irish.

Myself my father is British, he isn't even a Canadian citizen but I am a third gen Canadian with Irish orgins on my other side. I call myself a Irish Canadian even though I really a lot closer to my British side by the fact I'm really only first gen Canadian on my fathers side who is a Limy.

Toronto is like nothing else on this planet my friend. You can walk down the street on Danforth and believe you are in Greece and then cross the street and be in China, and then again and be India, not for blocks like in some cities but for a much longer distance and they just blend together. No Toronto is not British, though some believe the common tongue here is english and I will admit French is uncommon here. But for those of us who are not blind there is still a french presance. Also if you go by religion everything is here. Actually one of the biggest churches in Toronto is one which you can not hock up to any ethnic community and pretty much sings to Toronto and Canada in a sence is the United Church. But we have a large amount of Mosques, Temples, Catholic, proddy and whatnot churches, plus a dozen or so Hindu temples and buddist temples to boot.

So I'd have to disagree with you Toronto is an English city, some say Victoria is Canada's English city, so you might be thinking of them. But Tornto, nope the only thing english about us, is it is our common tongue here.

Well I wouldn't base how we are off our flags. and Toronto's flag is pretty republican if you ask me.
http://www.toronto.ca/protocol/images/torontoflag.jpg

but you are right Ontario's flag is pretty english and that is because of our history. This province was pretty much populated by Grit late loyalists also known as (late Tories) from the USA after the american revultion. So our flag truly does represent the late loyalists. Of course there loyality wasn't always with the UK but by the promise of free land/cheap land.

I'd never denny Ontario's history and ties to the British empire. Hell the UK almost had to kick us out of the empire, at least out of the mercantil set up of empire and many more other things.

I'm still envious of your large chinese community, I mean, the canadian accent is (in young girls) hot anyway, but take a slim, attractive chinese/canadian girl and jeezus u'd have to pick me up off the floor.....that and the rest of us male exchange students in toronto hehe..

I mean, history, culture, money...their all good, but what it boils down to is how hot are the women!!!....and toronto's up there eh?

true that..... they are pretty hot. when I was in high school I had a few possible Chiness g/f, too bad I never had the balls to really ask them out. in retrospect after learning more about women, these girls were totally heavly flirting with me. Oh well. But I had a hot East Indian girl who's family was from the upper class (warrior and priest) castes of India and who looked persian/East Indian, but had the whitist, smoothist skin I've ever touched. She was really hot...

see, I noticed that too, toronto has a HUGE indian population, but you never hear about it, it was actually my mate from the arab emerits that suggested I go to toronto in the first place.

I spent a lot of time at the back of TravelCUTS on King West, and the assistant there was a scatty chinese canadian girl in her late 20's, man we all had a crush on her!!.

as I say though, the US could certainly learn a thing or two from toronto about integration
