These "people" seem to find a way to access their sick "hobby" (for lack of better word) anywhere and anytime. It just seems to get worse instead of better. I myself can think of more than one way to deal with them, but of course some people would say those ways are "cruel and inhumane".
Why does it seem that in todays world it seems like the victims are forgotten and the criminals are coddled?

Criminals are coddled in many ways. Take Ms Holmoka. She lived better than quite a few Canadians do. She got three meals a day, all dental paid for by who, all health care paid for by who? University education paid by who? Not to mention the sweetheart deal she got. There are a lot of examples of how criminals are coddled. And yes even pedophiles in that they get special protection from the other inmates that is if they even see the inside of a prison.
Now I know all criminals don't get the above treatment(s) but enough do. So it seems like the victims are forgotten and the criminals get coddled. In my opinion anyways

WE don't deal with child porn, domestic abuse and other such crimes seriously at all.
I believe there should be an automatic prison sentence for these people with nothing
short of ten years. Yes if one of these thugs beats up his wife etc, then they should pay they price.

I don't think it's really a case of being better or worse to be honest. It is just easier now for these pieces of crap to gain access to their "treasure". While there are many good uses for the internet, the upspike in Child Pornography shows that there is a downside to the internet as well.

Pedophiles are coddled quite a lot, actually. They are placed in segregation as to protect them from the other inmates that would love to tear them apart. A lot of the sentences that they receive are quite pathetic as well. Of course, the same can be said about almost any crime here in Canada, as the judges tend to side on lighter sentencing rather than the harsh ones that are deserved.

Pedophiles can't be rehabilitated, so I can't help but wonder why they are given so many chances when they don't deserve them?

Actually, I don't believe it does. They just end up using other means for sexual gratification(objects, toys, etc.). Being as the problem originates in their genetic makeup, chemical castration wouldn't solve the problem. Denying them the ability to ever get close to another child again would be much better.
