    Yorkshire Pudding

While this sounds like a good idea, I'd caution doing this in just any oven. I used to be able to pop stuff into the oven during pre-heat, but, with this new oven, it scorches the bottoms of anything I put in on pre-heat.

    Leftover Recipes

The drifts were so high here this morning that hubby and I took an hour to shovel the driveway. It will probably take us another hour to get the sidewalks. 4 collective hours... yeesh. I think we're going out for a snow blower. lol.

Yeah, I can see that on my monitor, but, if a monitor was just a little bit different in colour I can see how it would look different. The tricky thing about sharing images on the net.

    Leftover Recipes

On Wednesday night I did a taco meal, a veggie platter, salsa and chips, etc., for a party I threw selling 'Epicure' spices (like a Tupperware party). Anyway, last night as the kids played outside in the drifting snow, I threw the leftover taco meat, veggies, and salsa in a pot and cooked up...

    Simple never-fail recipes

Glass takes more energy to manufacture from what I've been reading. Plus, it's more expensive per litre of wine, to package in glass. 3L will fit in one box, only 1L will fit in a bottle, and then those boxes can fit more snugly into trucks, making shipping cheaper too. This site puts glass...

I agree. And when buying local, I think I'd totally go with glass. But, when buying imported, it becomes a balancing act imo.

They're listed as number 7 recyclable bags, and the boxes are fully recyclable.

    Simple never-fail recipes

Actually, environmentally speaking, it's better than the bottles. The packaging weighs less, is recyclable (and made from recycled materials), and means more wine can fit in each truck. There are something like 3 1/2 bottles per package. There are quite a few vineyards that are going that...

    Pastry lard

well that actually sounds like it's the lard that made her cookies hard alright.

    Pastry lard

I've never made cookies with anything but butter or margarine, so I can't really tell you if the lard was THE culprit, but, in my experience, over cooking, and old molasses, have been culprits in creating hard as rock ginger snaps for me in the past.

    Turkey Dinner

2 will feed 14 people with lots of left overs. The President's Choice one also comes with pre-made gravy that is decent for adding to your own, but, not nearly enough for that many people.

    Turkey Dinner

I bought the President's choice brand one. It fed 6 people for a big dinner, 4 people for two lunches and one supper. It was a LOT of meat. But, I did make extra stuffing. And, all of the ones I've bought like this are wrapped in netting once you open the box. They don't sit on a plate all...

    Lamb recipes

I said environmentally... shipping uses energy, plain and simple, especially when it's refrigerated shipping. The other issues you point to are something else.

    Lamb recipes

environmentally speaking, buying something from across the world that requires shipping and refrigeration, is irresponsible if the exact same thing is available next door minus international shipping.

    Lamb recipes

My family adores lamb... my kids go berserk for it. Their absolute fave is skewered and bbq'd. Typically I just find whatever lamb is affordable, trim and cube it, and dress it with a greek marinade (lemon juice, olive oil, pepper, basil, garlic, salt). Not too strong, as you don't want to...
