A warning for the people of Earth

Saying it again won't make it true...do the math. You think there's only 300 million people on earth who aren't farming the food they eat? That's laughably insane to even suggest. Europe and North America alone demolish this figure. Japan, China, India, lots of middle class folks there as well...

    NEXT Big Lie—biodiversity

Food for the soil doesn't necessarily mean it's safe to eat the crops that grow in the soil...

    NEXT Big Lie—biodiversity

So, the question you're really asking is how can someone return to integrated farming, but still meet the needs of a modern chemical feedstock dominated agri-business. The answer is the system needs to change.

    NEXT Big Lie—biodiversity

Not according to me. So maybe you should bring this argument to folks who clearly articulate such things. Human activity is not decried in my world...harmful activity when it can be shown so is decried. Big difference. Understand? You could just ask me instead of guessing at what I think or...

    NEXT Big Lie—biodiversity

Yes, that's what a functioning ecosystem does... Yes, that's what a functioning ecosystem does... Yes, only when nature does it it's not called treatment. No...the overwhelming majority of biomass on this planet doesn't have a digestive tract. So, back on topic, when biodiversity is...

    NEXT Big Lie—biodiversity

Not without treatment first...what makes you think that I was suggesting shipping raw pig manure? It's a simple example of nutrient flows within the agricultural system.

    NEXT Big Lie—biodiversity

This, also, is a foolish conclusion... No...don't confuse a solution with the problem. The problem is nutrient flux is by a long shot in the direction away from the soil...Inputs are dwarfed by the farm output. The solution favoured by Agri-business is to use soil amendments like fertilizer to...

    Humans decended from dinosaurs.

Do most humans even recognize that other forms of life are extremely intelligent? Would a hypothetical visiting alien species think we were closer to them in intelligence, or closer to the level of the other beasts which roam this planet? We are as smart as we need to be, as far as intellectual...

    NEXT Big Lie—biodiversity

Fewer species of animals and bugs. The current rate sees 50 species of just mammals and amphibians being added to the IUCN red list every year. But as an example, even if the same number of species were in your mono-species planted block as there were when it was virgin forest, biodiversity...

    NEXT Big Lie—biodiversity

The only big lie to do with biodiversity is that there isn't a problem. Agricultural expansion, over-exploiting resources, converting forest to plantations, invasive alien species...only a fool would conclude that there is no problem.

GOP supporter stomps head of opponent

Rand Paul, an avowed Libertarian, has supporters who think it's acceptable in the heat of the moment to stomp on the head of a un-like minded person, after tackling her to the ground for daring to carry a sign that doesn't support Rand Paul... Liberal MP: Canada's "obsolete" health care needs some privatization

Hows that for making waves? Keith Martin, a medical doctor by profession, and a BC Liberal is saying that Canadians should have the option to pay for medical services in a system that operates parallel to the public Canada Health Act system. Right on Keith! I agree wholeheartedly. It's a debate...

How the GW myth is perpetuated

And condensation trails...and sometimes they form ice crystals. Speculate all you want, but the analyses you linked to show how tiny the radiative impact is on the climate.

How the GW myth is perpetuated

That's not what I said. Contrails cover a tiny portion of the sky, they are discrete. Well mixed long-lived greenhouse gases cover the entire sky. Both are opaque, in varying degrees to IR.

How the GW myth is perpetuated

The white cloud of vapour doesn't cover as much of the sky as a well mixed greenhouse gas. As far as IR is concerned, neither is transparent. Only to your eyes is the greenhouse gas transparent, because we don't perceive that portion of the EM spectrum. As to why it isn't as strong as other...

How the GW myth is perpetuated

From reading what the experts in the field have found. You've posted some of it in here too. How can you post something as evidence for something you're arguing (with whom I'm not sure) but then disagree with it? That is curious...

How the GW myth is perpetuated

That's net. It traps more than that, but the clouds also reflect incoming solar. You yourself posted 3.5 milliwatts to 17 milliwatts per square meter when you quoted a paragraph from wikipedia...and if we use your numbers, that's a range of 77 watts to 374 watts over that same 22,000 km2 . So...

How the GW myth is perpetuated

So to summarize: air traffic pollution boosts global warming, a persistent finding in the literature, and discussed by the IPCC. petros is comfortable, apparently, with a climate sensitivity of about 4.5°C per doubling carbon dioxide concentration.
