Right on, Penn. Thanks, Walter. :)

Think we'll be around in about 30 yrs?

I musta missed this one.Was probably interested in some other branch of science at the time. http://www.guardian.co.uk/science/2005/dec/07/spaceexploration.research

8 top industrialized countries acknowledge that global warming is a problem

So far, we haven't been able to do much of ANYTHING that hasn't had an impact on the planet. Why should pumping carbons into the atmospehere be any different? (rhetorical). Some people are doing things to reduce their impact. Others refuse and yet others don't give a crap.

8 top industrialized countries acknowledge that global warming is a problem

I said proper science, not the greedy science. Please read before you spew. What you said about the planet heating up from the inside is only theoretical as yet. The simple fact is we don't KNOW much yet. Which is what I said. So what we have so far, is simply opinion. Nothing has been proven...

8 top industrialized countries acknowledge that global warming is a problem

Yup, and proper science will keep plugging away at it until it is definitvely answered.

8 top industrialized countries acknowledge that global warming is a problem

Well, I don't think it's a scam. Ice in general is disappearing and oceans are heating up. But I can't see how a bunch of politicians saying they will do something about it is definitive word that it is true.

thoughts on 2012 and the Mayn Calendar

Um, I believe the earliest recirded history is a bit farther back in time than 3100. More like the 5th century BCE. When the end of history comes, I bet it will be recorded down to a very minute fraction of a second somewhere. So, that's a pretty silly question. BTW, I really doubt the end of...

    Mars is inhabited.

I was wondering that, too. Which is beside my wonderment about why EA is posting religious dogma in a science forum. It's been shown to be worthless scientifically many times, yet the goofy banana continues to post it. I don't think the fella's driveway goes all the way to the road, myself...

lol You have no idea what logic even is. One has to be rational to be able to understand what it is. Neither do I. Sorry, but you are projecting your failings onto us. YOU are the one who is not rational. You are right about one thing, though, we do not seek after YOUR version of the...

    Mars is inhabited.

It is more that politics in general love ignorance and stupidity, regardless of brand of politics. Ah, but I do denegrate religion for trying to describe the universe. Science has gone far past any claims of religion in doing this. I must admit that using imagination one can describe pretty much...

    Mars is inhabited.

Exactly. None are. Not only is there no sliver of evidence to point to the existence of gods n demons, there is no evidence pointing to the existence on one god. The whole idea of these "beings" is thoroughly irrational. Like I said in another thread, churches, religions, faiths, whatever you...

lol Gotta love those "end of the world" tales. Like that thread about the "rapture" coming last Wednesday, they are comical. There is no shortage of oil other than the "shortages" caused by oil companies when they cut production. It's a simple supply and demand thing. Cut supply and up the price.

How the GW myth is perpetuated

Yup. So? There are folks on both sides of the issue with too much ego to be taken very seriously. The facts, however, should be taken seriously. Even if a scientist's ego causes him to be biased, if many other scientists back him up with their own evidence, then his ego is irrelevant. If there...

    The mystery of sunspots

Yep. The ice is retreating farther north. As to when/if it disappears altogether, tough to say.

    Mars is inhabited.

lol Speaking of inventions, there are no gods and demons outside of the human mind. So this discussion is not only irrelevant, it has nothing to do with life on Mars. Citing scripture after scripture from a book that is its own authority is meaningless. Same damned thing that Christians do...

How the GW myth is perpetuated

lmao You are a funny sort, EA. Have you not heard of sarcasm? 2 definitions; the one applicable to my previous post is 2a: BTW, I don't read scriptures from holy books anymore. That joke has gone stale on me.
