Canadian ethical oil ad stirs Saudi ire

The notion of ethical oil is even murkier than a barrelful of crude. A Canadian-made television ad that speaks out against oil imported from Saudi Arabia has raised the ire of the Middle Eastern nation, prompting it to send a threatening legal notice to broadcaster CTV. Canadian ethical oil ad...

Like Cliff said, the depth of field is a bit off. Looks like the camera is focusing on the bottom of the stem. Are you shooting with auto focus on? Homeless fella eating lunch in front of the Layton tribute wall at Nathan Phillips Square Lunch | Flickr - Photo Sharing!

You have some great shots in there, El Barto. I love the open sky and the tones and colours you captured in many of them. I would be shooting similar subjects if I wasn't in the city 99% of the time.

Like any city, ya, there is a lot of down and out people. A book is a great idea but I would have to get model release from every person if I wanted to sell them commercially, even if it's for charity.

Look on the top of your camera, you should see a button on the far right labelled "ISO", press it once then turn the thumb wheel to the left, located in the upper right corner. Turn it until you see 100. Just a suggestion, don't shoot auto mode, it makes a mess of photos. If I were you, I...

Ariadne, looks like you have the ISO cranked, try lowering it to somewhere between 100 and 400. Are you shooting in auto mode? I gave him a couple bucks.... I'm not really subtle, I generally just aim and shoot. He wasn't even noticing my camera.

The 1.2m or 2.5m shouldn't come into effect unless you are trying to focus on something closer then 1.2. Stupid question I know, but do you have the lens set to AF? It could have been easily changed if someone was playing with it. Also, check to see where you focus point is aimed via the...

    Your phone type

I realize not everyone is a phone junkie, but I am. Specifically, I'm into smartphones (namely android) and I love to tinker. Just curious about the tastes and usage of fellow members here. My current phone is a Samsung Nexus S (Android), root access and overclocked from 1ghz to 1.4ghz. ya...

    Project Grizzly

Has anyone else seen the documentary "Project Grizzly", available on the NFB (national film board canada) website? I've taken to streaming documentaries off the NFB site of late and this is one of my favourites. Following this guy as he tries to perfect an armoured suit that could withstand a...

    Toronto's first all inclusive resort

I had a bit of a chuckle when I read this. Since the provincial government relaxed the liqor laws, one can now offer "all inclusive" deals in Toronto. This place is just down the street from me, maybe I'll go there for a 1 night booze fueled vacation. Who needs the Caribbean? Downtown Toronto...
