Yep, and sushi can be vegetarian too! Don't have to worry about the worms there, usually. One of my favorites is "natto sushi"...it's a simple one...sticky, slimy, smelly fermented soybeans surrounded by a sheet of "nori" (seaweed). Pretty strong tasting, but with a couple of "spollops" of...

That's right...and I love salmon. I'm just saying I don't like to eat it raw. I'm sure some people wouldn't eat any raw fish, but I have a strange sense of taste...to me, raw tuna tastes better than cooked tuna. Maybe it something to do with the rice wine (sake) that always seems to appear...

That's why I avoid salmon sashimi or sushi...they're notorious for having little critters in the flesh. Some apparently aren't prone to having parasites though...tuna and red snapper are two that come to mind, and quite popular for raw consumption in Japan.

Sorry to go so far off track here...yes, I understand the deal, Francis. I believe some local ISPs are trying to secure some of Network BC's grant money for tower contruction, and then plug it all in to their existing systems. That would make the whole program financially feasible for them, and...

Oh I agree...it's hard to "hone the art" when the website never appears on the screen (speed)... Actually, the BC government - through Network BC - has a mission to ensure that "all" citizens of BC have access to broadband. Much of it will likely be in the form of wireless towers...

Thanks a bunch, Francis. I used the first link and just discovered that a restaurant I go to once in a while was nailed for improper food storage!!! (No ants, though) I'm amazed that the Interior actually was included in the reports! OK, that just proves that G. Campbell is aware that there...

Hey Francis...do we have any similar reports for areas in the Interior? I'd love to see them but don't have enough speed in the old dial-up system to search around for them...thanks!

Ha, ha...he figured it out when he got caught with the creamy cole slaw! He "went" rather instantly. A funny little aside - In Japanese, the word for "coming" is actually "going", in the context we're discussing. So, if someone is saying, "iku, iku" (I'm going, I'm going), they're actually...

Sounds like a good system in NB. In BC, they have stretched the health inspectors to the limit...not really enough of them to go around and do the job properly, especially in the "Heartland" (anything other than the Lower Mainland and Vancouver Island). They keep reorganizing the jobs in an...

What's that old expresson, "I saw, I came, I went?" No, that's not it...well, something like that. Seriously though...if we (the public) could see behind the scenes, our consumption of food in restaurants would likely decline dramatically. That's not to say all restaurants are bad - there...

Yeah, although they're not sure how many times he "came" before he "went." 8O

    mcdonalds antics

Nothing would surprise me when it comes to what might appear in your restaurant food these days. I used to work with a guy who was once an assistant mgr. at a KFC. They caught a young (male) employee adding some "special sauce" to a batch of creamy cole slaw...his own semen! He was quietly...

New drug for people who are healthy!

Here's a news item from www.naturalnews.com...applies to the U.S. but we'll likely see it on TV up here... (NaturalNews) Big Pharma has been trending this direction for a long time: marketing medicines to people who don't need them and who have nothing wrong with their health. It's all part of...

    Where is canada going?

We hear a lot from ourselves about how wonderful Canada is, and how many nice people we have, what a nice place we have here, and so on...all very good and much of it likely true. But, do we know where we're going as we forge ahead into the future? As a country, do we have a plan to sustain...

OUR HEALTH CARE SYSTEM – Does It Need Fixing?

We all likely have an opinion on our beloved (?) Health Care System, and it appears to be rising up in the public eye as the U.S. considers it's next move on the subject. What's your opinion on our system? Is it good? Not so good? Need improvement? Does anyone have any ideas on what should be...

What's the funniest/strangest experience you've ever had in a restaurant?

We Canadians are dining out more than ever before, and we certainly have a wide variety of restaurants across this great land. Have you ever had a strange/unusual/funny experience in a restaurant? Could involve the food, the service, other guests, anything. Care to share?

    Customer Service Sometimes Sucks!

We Canadians generally feel that we're pretty nice people. We pride ourselves on being a great place to live, work, and raise our children. However, life in Canada not always perfect. At least, not all the time. There is one area of our lives that could stand a bit of improvement, and that is...

THE PERFECT POLITICIAN – Who Would That Be?

Many people have an opinion on politicians these days, with a lot of focus on what's wrong with them. I'm wondering if it's possible to come up with a list of qualities that would make the “perfect politician?” What kind of background, work experience, personal characteristics, and whatever...

Canadianisms - Unique Words & Expressions

The Climate Summit in Copenhagen Must Be Cancelled!

Yep. Sadly, many of these efforts are designed to look good. Actually being good is often somewhere else on the priority list. They all start out with great intentions, I think, but then a lot of people get involved, and soon the train starts sliding off the tracks. Don't mean to sound...
