How many here use a breadmaker?

Seriously talloola, breadmakers are useful things to have around. My wife and I have made bread for more than a few years. We only got a breadmaker about five years ago. What the breadmaker does for us is the mixing and kneading of the bread better that we can do it, for up to an hour so we...

    Flames come back

The Calgary Flames were down by three goals in about the first three minutes of the game tonight. I just about gave up on them. I switched to something else and I was checking back to see what was happening every few minutes. Anyway, the Flames came back with four unanswered goals to win the...

    Food Waste

I haven't seen this but it sounds like a great idea. I don't know what all that rotten food turns into in the landfill.

    Food Waste

Restaurants are probably the best demonstration of food waste around. I was having dinner with friends when one of the women discovered that her very expensive engagement ring was missing. The first thought was that it went out with the dishes. If it had, it would have been scrapped off into...

How many here use a breadmaker?

I don't know what kind of breadmaker you have but you shouldn't be having those kind of problems if you follow the recipes in the manual. We have used our Black and Decker breadmaker for well over five years now and we would hate to give it up. Many recipes call for transferring the dough to...

How many here use a breadmaker?

I would recommend putting the loaves directly onto the baking sheet. It is more trouble than it's worth to try to move them.

How many here use a breadmaker?

The link below is to a breadmaker recipe for Italian bread. We started buying Italian bread a few years ago because it is superior to French bread in our opinion. This recipe turns out a great Calabrese bread. I can't see us buying another loaf while the breadmaker works...

    Mexican Food at my Doorstep

I've never been that wild about Mexican food. Re-fried beans? How could you tell? A taco is a large cornflake full of stuff that is almost guaranteed to break apart on the first bite. I might go for a burrito if I was sure what was in it. A nice steak blows all that stuff away.......

    British pub food

Shepherd's Pie Many variations of Shepherd's Pie can be found in British pubs. This particular recipe originally came from an aunt in Scotland and is one that has been made in our house for quite a few years. I use both lamb or beef but I prefer lamb. Ingredients: 2 pounds of lamb cut...

    British pub food

Well Blackleaf, I spent a good deal of time in Britain in the sixties and Bubble and Squeak was on the menu in lots of pubs. . As I've said, the two constants were mashed potatoes and cabbage, but it was served with just about any kind of meat. Here is a link to a few recipes...

    British pub food

It wouldn't surprise me if some people make bubble and squeak with fish. I would say if it doesn't have cabbage and mashed potatoes it is something else. Pork lard is probably not one of my favourite things to eat, but to each his/her own....;-)

    British pub food

Don't be surprised if it comes with ham, or beef, or bacon, etc., because everybody has their own recipe. The only constant is the mashed potatoes and cabbage. Have a good time over there....

    British pub food

Has anyone used the latest Safari Browser?

I got a bit of spam on the weekend that offered a free download of this Apple browser for Windows. Out of curiosity, I downloaded it, and I've been fiddling with it for a couple days. My initial take is that it is very similar to Firefox in operation but maybe a bit faster. Here is a link...
