Heat wave coming on week end

I think we'll need all the breeze we can get today. My thermometer already reads 24 degrees at 8:30 in the morning. The forcast is for 29 but I would bet we'll be well into the thirties. Should do our tomatoes good...

It won't be as hot as expected. Even our traditional hot spot "Lytton", won't be breaking any records but we will get lots of sun. Enjoy it.....

    Barbeque brushes can be dangerous

I think it is my responsibility to make sure there are no loose wires. Just cleaning the grille after you use the brush will remove most of the problems.

    Barbeque brushes can be dangerous

We bought a new brush. Surprised to learn that barbeque brushes can be had for as low as $2.00 and as high as $20.00. On the cheaper ones the bristles are set in plastic. If you are brushing a hot grille, I can see how the bristles could loosen up in the plastic. Might be an idea to spend a...

CTV News | News Video - Top National News Headlines - News Videos I found a wire brush bristle on a steak I had just grilled and I wondered if anyone else had. The lady in the above link had a bad experience that I wouldn't want. Comments?

Be great if all we ate was beef but we eat chicken and fish more than we do beef and it is cheaper and better for us and what kind of beef can we get 30 or 40 pounds of for a hundred dollars?

Petros. What the hell is the average guy going to do with a side of beef?? Most of us don't have storage space for that much beef. I have a 12 cubic foot freezer and another 7 cubic feet of freezer in the fridge and there is no way I could store even a hind quarter. We do eat other things...

The last time we moved, we decided, that we would simply call the movers and sit back and watch. We had all the furniture identified with taped on notes as to which room in the new place each piece would go. The rooms in the new house were all identified. We should have just left for the day...

    Exercise for people over 60

1.. Begin by standing on a comfortable surface, where you have plenty of room at each side. 2.. With a 5-lb potato bag in each hand, extend your arms straight out from your sides and hold them there as long as you can. Try to reach a full minute, and then relax...

Levels of salt, sugar, and preservatives are insane? According to whom? Which preservatives? What do you know about preservatives. I just don't believe these levels are as "insane", as you say, or they wouldn't be selling the stuff.

Buying frozen meat from a company the size of M&Ms must be fairly safe. Surely if they had a health problem we'd all know about it. With four hundred and thirty odd stores in Canada they sure as hell wouldn't want any bad publicity from selling tainted meat. Since we haven't heard about any...

Karrie. M&M sells meat out of over 400 shops in Canada. They are a successful Canadian company. What else would you call them? Are you saying their meat is unhealthy or something? My only complaint is that they are a little expensive. I use them only for specialty items.

It looks great. Also looks like it would be fairly easy to put together. We just bought a new barbeque at the end of last season. The barbeque we bought will probably do fine for the six or seven people we would normally get. That one would feed a crowd.

A few years ago we learned to butterfly a whole chicken, salt and pepper it, brush it with olive oil both sides and throw it on the grille. It is still our favourite chicken. I wish the new barbeque had a spit, but it doesn't, so grilling chicken takes a little more work and time so you get...

That takes a pretty special barbeque. I could probably put a dozen steaks on our new barbeque but that would be pushing it. The new barbeque doesn't have a spit.
