Maybe we can get a two for one discount? I wonder if the liberal government of Canada would make you license it, then declare it, then they would make it illegal, then they would seize it, and maybe if you’re lucky they will pay you $.10 on the dollar with your own money.
What if it shoots love, rainbows and unicorn farts?

When President Donald Trump unveiled his vast tariff regime targeting imports from almost every country in the world last year, he promised foreign countries would pay the levies and that Americans would reap the rewards. How’s that work’n out for them?
View attachment 32829
But…but a new study published Monday by researchers at the Kiel Institute, an independent economic research institute based in Germany, found that American consumers and importers are paying for the tariffs by an overwhelming margin.😲

“Foreign exporters absorb only about 4% of the tariff burden—the remaining 96% is passed onto U.S. buyers” the authors of the research wrote in a study, which analyzed $4 trillion of shipments between January 2024 and November 2025.😳

The research found that exporters to the U.S. raised prices to account for the tariffs, or kept prices the same while reducing shipments. The study concludes that the $200 billion increase in customs revenue that the U.S. government raised in 2025 was a “tax paid almost entirely by Americans.”🙄

Trump unveiled his sweeping “Liberation Day” tariffs, a signature economic policy that defined his first year in office, on April 2, 2025. The tariffs included a baseline 10% tariff on almost all imports, higher country-specific rates for many trading partners, and additional sector-specific tariffs on autos, steel, and aluminum. Several sporadic tariff announcements followed over the year depending on whom Trump thought slighted him, what kind of mode he was in, how spicy his supper was, or if he had to hit the crapper at 3am or not…🙁

Researchers at the Kiel Institute specifically examined Brazil and India, both of which faced sharp tariff increases in August 2025, and in both cases, exporters did not “eat” the tariffs—a claim Trump often made.🤨

The researchers argued that this could be because exporters found competitive markets elsewhere, or because they “believe tariffs may be temporary or subject to negotiation,” in which case they’d have less incentive to cut costs to maintain volume.😟

In the immediate future, it said consumers are the “ultimate bearers of the burden.”☹️
When are those Mid-Terms again? Not until November? At least they’re in early November I guess.
So who, besides The Donald didn't see that coming?

Or, it is possible that this is another bait and switch move.
"China will eat Canada alive, completely devour it, including the destruction of their businesses, social fabric, and general way of life," Trump wrote on Truth Social.
1769266757213.jpeg
"If Canada makes a deal with China, it will immediately be hit with a 100% Tariff against all Canadian goods and products coming into the U.S.A."

Trump suggested that China would try to use Canada to evade U.S. tariffs. "If Governor Carney (no 51st state implied there I’m sure) thinks he is going to make Canada a 'Drop Off Port' for China to send goods and products into the United States, he is sorely mistaken." Tensions between the U.S. and its northern neighbor have grown in recent days.

(In early 2026, amid trade tensions, reports indicated hostile rhetoric where the U.S. President referred to Canadian leaders with nicknames like "Governor," but this is rhetoric, not a transfer of legal authority)

Trump on Thursday withdrew an invitation for Canada to join his Board of Peace initiative aimed at resolving global conflicts. That about-face followed Carney's speech at the World Economic Forum in Davos, where he openly decried powerful nations using economic integration as weapons and tariffs as leverage.

That’s so last week or maybe close to a week ago? Whatever…that’s an eternity ago.

Prime Minister Mark Carney’s Liberal government is pushing back against U.S. President Donald Trump’s latest threat to impose 100 per cent tariffs on all Canadian imports if Ottawa makes a trade deal with China, insisting there is no deal in the works.

“There is no pursuit of a free trade deal with China. What was achieved (in a recent agreement) was resolution on several important tariff issues,” he added. LeBlanc was referring to the prime minister’s recent trip to China that saw an agreement for temporary relief from Chinese tariffs on Canadian canola, lobster, crabs and peas in exchange for allowing a limited amount of Chinese-made electric vehicles into Canada at low tariff rates.

“If Canada makes a deal with China, it will immediately be hit with a 100% Tariff against all Canadian goods and products coming into the U.S.A.,” Trump Trumped. We’re mentally exhausted and at a different place than a year ago. Let’s see what a few days & a distraction by something shiny or a bag blowing in the wind does.
Trump had previously used “governor” as a title to taunt former prime minister Justin Trudeau in 2024, as the president pressed his belief Canada should become the 51st state of the U.S.A., but he had until now taken a less sardonic approach with Carney.

Later on Saturday afternoon, Trump had seemingly toned down his attacks on Carney, with a post instead expressing concern that China would invade Canada, like it was gonna invade Iceland Ireland Greenland.

“The last thing the World needs is to have China take over Canada. It’s NOT going to happen, or even come close to happening!” (???)

Saturday’s threats were a sharp reversal from Trump’s original reaction to Carney’s “strategic partnership” with China. Way back last Thursday, the president had said after Canada announced the deal: “Well, that’s OK, that’s what you should be doing. I mean, it’s a good thing for him to sign a trade deal. If you can get a deal with China, you should do that, right?”

But the U.S. president’s threat to slap Canada with new tariffs is the culmination of tensions this week between both countries following a largely noticed speech by Carney in Davos, and some butt-hurt, etc…

White House gifts sold as Trump derides Canada's trade deal
The President warns Canada's general way of life is under threat while the U.S. has its own trade deal with the communist country

These White House and Capitol souvenirs photographed recently at Reagan International Airport – just a 10-minute drive from 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. – clearly indicate they were made in China showing U.S. President Donald Trump’s America has its own trade arrangements with the communist country as well.

As U.S. President Donald Trump rails about Canada’s trade agreement with the communists, “Made in China” White House souvenirs are sold in American gift shops.

Many items on the shelves are made in China – part of the annual $600-billion trade agreement Trump himself signed with Chinese Xi Jinping in October 2025.

Now, as Trump warns Canada’s “general way of life” could be affected by signing a Chinese trade deal, these Chinese-made collectibles of the White House illustrate hypocrisy and raise a valid question.

Why is it that American businesses can sell Americana manufactured in China but its not okay for Canada to do the same?

At the Reagan National Airport gift shop just 15 minutes from 1600 Pennsylvania Ave., souvenir models of The White House, The Capitol or the American seal are clearly marked “Made in China.”

It’s a ‘do as I say, not as I do,’ double standard.

“If Governor Carney thinks he is going to make Canada a ‘Drop Off Port’ for China to send goods and products into the United States, he is sorely mistaken,” Trump wrote on his Truth Social.

But Canada didn’t drop those Chinese souvenirs off in Washington.

“If Canada makes a deal with China, it will immediately be hit with a 100% Tariff against all Canadian goods and products coming into the U.S.A,” Trump said.

Will American importers also be slapped with a 100% tariff?

Trump on X wrote: “The last thing the world needs is to have China take over Canada. It’s NOT going to happen, or even come close to happening.”

But yet, “Made in China” souvenirs of White House miniatures are being sold in Washington D.C.

“We have concluded the mother of all deals,” European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said Tuesday in a social-media post. The head of the EU executive, who was in New Delhi to mark the moment with European Council President Antonio Costa, added that the accord “created a free trade zone of two billion people, with both sides set to benefit.”

The conclusion of negotiations reflects the rapidly shifting global alignment under US President Donald Trump. The EU, despite long clashing with Indian officials on trade policy, is focused on paring back its economic reliance on the US and China. India is trying to shake its protectionist reputation and offset a 50% Trump tariff, while at the same time balance ties with Russia.
