Another Rider penalty was roughing the kicker which was offset by a no yards call with the result that Edmonton lost 5yds and remained third down. Odd that no yards is a more severe penalty than roughing.

In the end I should have played the spread of 10.5 although it was close. Will now need the Argos to win tonight in order to eat next week. Hoping for a good turnout and a well played game for the home team.

I prefer the NFL system. If each team has a penalty just replay the down. This summing up yardage is bizarre. I think there are 2 types of no yards. Intentional is 15 yards and unintentional is 5 years. I think there is also 2 types of roughing the kicker penalties: roughing the kicker and contacting the kicker. The roughing has more yardage. My guess the SK penalty was 10 yards and Edmonton was charged with 15.

My son and I will be there but we are not hopeful. The Argos have been brutal this year particularly at home.

Mosaic looked like the place to be on a beautiful Friday night but I do agree with you about the too many people which is part of the oxymoron.

Fortunately for the Riders the refs kept them in the game with 133 yds in penalties for Edmonton to 53 for the Riders including a roughing the passer with 24 seconds left which made the one sidedness look less worse than it was. Another penalty was a punt out of bounds. Riders only had 1 point until late in the first half.

I thought Cody Fajardo played well and strange to me to see Edmonton fans still insisting on Tre Ford as the starter. Edmonton also has one of the most expensive O lines in the league so something up with giving up 8 sacks and no run game. Kilam will be lucky to finish out his contract imo. To think they had Chris Jones.

Meanwhile Bethel Thompson beats the Stamps but don't say anything good about that.
That ref never favours the Riders, thats Andre Proulx's job.

Edmonton played terribly. 8 sacks on Fajardo mainly because he thinks being a ballerina will open a receiver downfield or deflect 4 linemen coming at full tilt. Those pirouettes cost Riders entire seasons.

Edmonton coverage on the Riders was good and vice versa.

Go Argos.

Argos did it. They played a solid game. The Bombers defence looked soft. They also seemed unable to finish tackles. Good win. Hopefully they can do it again in Winnipeg.

And why has Winnipeg already got 2 byes when some teams have not yet got one? The scheduler is on some drugs.

Score was closer than it should have been given the 6 field goals by Hajrullahu and Winnipeg had no answer for Coxie or Daniels. I hope the odds makers get it wrong again next week as it paid as high as 2.75 for the Argos to win yesterday.

As for the byes, Winnipeg has been getting late byes for the past few years in order to be ready for the playoffs. They seem to have enough influence to always begin with an easy schedule to build up a lead and then try to coast into the post season. My guess is they were called out on that and were given the early byes this year. They also like going from a Thursday game to a weekend game for the few extra days and seldom do they play with less than a full week. A couple years back Winnipeg was playing Ottawa back to back in the first few weeks until Ottawa beat them last year. This year they played BC back to back after a first week bye to get their wins. Bombers do their best to avoid Toronto and Montreal and obviously want no part of a Grey Cup rematch in week 1 that they are going to lose. It is indeed a sinister plot.

It used to be a fixed schedule. Now there is variations. Come Sept NFL starts to clash for TV time. Add in the earlier season start as well. Come November there is time change as well. TNF makes life much easier for the teams and especially TSN who will have to run double headers post labour day.

It's freaking hot in July in MB and SK. American players don't do well in summer. It's a fall/winter sport there.

Good game in BC last night.

My power rankings:

1) Hamilton, the more they play the better they get
2) Calgary, Ottawa on Thursday
3) Montreal, ready to go on a roll
4) Sask, expect a tough test in Montreal
5) Toronto, better than their record
6) BC, showing signs of improvement
7) Ottawa, Calgary on Thursday, then Toronto
8) Winnipeg, old and getting older
9) Edmonton, with Cody there is hope

Week 9

Had to scurry down this morning to get in on Toronto paying 3.0 to win as a 6.5 pt underdog against the Bombers. Did nobody at Proline watch last weeks game? Could be Steveler at QB for Wpg.

Ottawa at 2.30 to win might be a good play if Vernon Adams does not dress. Ottawa needs the win and has good players. Would be nice for Bobby Dyce.

Surprisingly Edmonton is only a 4.5 point underdog against Hamilton. My guess is the spread will grow. Also expect Cody Fajardo to play well.

Montreal at home playing the Riders paying 2.30 to win is another good bet. Believe Shawn Lemon will dress which should give a boost to the Als D.

Redblacks got the win they needed but ended up paying only 1.4 after the news of Vernon Adams not playing broke. I thought P.J. Walker did okay and the reps will do him a world of good.

Meanwhile Wade Miller out lighting fires in order to cancel the game due to air quality. My guess is they would accept any other arrangement than having to play.
