Have you ever thought about it? We want to be famous as a writer, as a poet, as a painter, as a politician, as a singer, or what you will. Why? Because we really don't love what we are doing. If you loved to sing, or to paint, or to write poems - if you really loved it - you would not be concerned with whether you are famous or not. To want to be famous is tawdry, trivial, stupid, it has no meaning; but, because we don't love what we are doing, we want to enrich ourselves with fame. Our present education is rotten because it teaches us to love success and not what we are doing. The result has become more important than the action. You know, it is good to hide your brilliance under a bushel, to be anonymous, to love what you are doing and not to show off. It is good to be kind without a name. That does not make you famous, it does not cause your photograph to appear in the newspapers. Politicians do not come to your door. You are just a creative human being living anonymously, and in that there is richness and great beauty.

Why do we seek fame? it is for those of us who cannot except that the world is not looking at them it is for the proud and the conceited fame beckons them and they love the adoration because of there fickleness or narcissism

Some people seek fame because they are unsure of their own existence. They rely on the accolades of others to prove to themselves that they are real. Often this is mistaken as a desire for self worth, however that is false, it is the validation of their ego they seek. Sadly the observations of other people cannot provide validation for the individual since, by definition, observations by others comes from the outside of ones self and so can not be trusted. Validation must come from self perception and self validation. This is the real secret behind the cogito. "They think I am therefore I am" doesn't work. If that worked goldfish, dogs, cats etc would all have human like consciousness and clearly they don't.

I don't want to be famous, I couldn't handle having strangers come up to me all of the time thinking I am their buddy or something.

Give me anonymity or give me death...

Well, not really death, but you get the point....ok, maybe there isn't one.

Nevermind.

mayb some ppl seek fame for money? they want attention and to have ppl talk about them, tell them they are good looking (when half of them really arent) and treat them like they are gods. selfish stuff like that. or mayb some ppl really like to act/sing/write/ or what ever else. if u have a hobby and are good at it, y not get paid? it makes for a good job that u actually enjoy, and theres nothing wrong with that.
i'm a writter and i could care less if i made a ton of money off it, but i would like to get my book published some day to share my ideas with everyone

Don't seek it. According to the departed A. Warhol we will all have "15 minutes of it."
