I and the staff here feel nothing but compassion for the difficulties being discussed here by triedit. Please make no mistake about that.
At the risk of sounding aloof, I feel I should just mention one thing that may help you understand why the staff have come to this decision.
This is primarily a political site. How many of you have really taken a good look at the rest of this site? If you haven't I encourage you to do so. Not only will you find a wealth of information, you will perhaps better understand the vision that has always been held in mind for this discussion board.
Over time, a collection of people who originally gathered here to discuss Canada and political issues have created an online family. It's understandable that the discussions would become not only more personal, but much more diverse in their content.
At some point though, certain discussions go far beyond the realm of what we consider the 'intent' of this board. We hope to attract the majority of our hits from content that is related to the site. If enough threads discussing intensely personal issues are generated here, eventually we're going to have a huge influx of people looking to resolve or discuss personal issues, rather than those seeking political discussion.
There are, I'm sure a host of sites that are dedicated to the sole theme of challenges in child rearing that delve into the kind of detail that is sought here.
Within the past year, I needed some medical care. I had concerns. I did not bring those concerns here, where the bulk of people gather to exchange at least some discourse on political issues. I found a forum related specifically to the issue I was dealing with, and joined there. I received wonderful support and accurate advice, links and resources.
Let this be the place you gather for your entertainment and debating needs. Seek the expertise and likemindedness from forums that will cater to those specific needs.
This is my opinion only - I am not speaking on behalf of any other staff at CC.
