We got the technology to cut down emissions, cut down greenhouse gases but the environmentalists will say otherwise because they have hidden agendas to further their cause.

It’s all about money and money puts food on the table of these people so it is in their interest to come up with flawed ideas.

A good example is cancer a disease that has been around for decades there have been countless fundraisers around the world totaling in the hundreds of billions of dollars and we are no closer to cure the disease.

Where is the money going?

Some environmentalists are saying that we should cut down the births.

Some countries need population growth to survive.

I was watching a science show where a solar powered boat cruised across the Atlantic ocean with no problem.

If an environmentalist group says anything we should look at their books just to see where the money is really going.

Cancer treatments have improved dramatically during the last few decades. That money has produced a lot of results.

Nothing wrong with the premise that there are too many people on Earth. Many of our problems are a result of overpopulation. Pollution, global warming, starvation, are all symptoms of the fact that there are more of us than the planet can support. There are ways that we can solve some of these problems but apparently, we have to wait until until our backs are against the wall before we do anything. The dopey attitude that ecologists are are somehow our enemies is a large part of the problem. Mankind, generally, has to pull it's head out of the sand

I have yet to ever hear of a country that needs population growth to survive. And if they do, then sooner or later they won't survive. Regardless of where you draw that line (8 billion, or a hundred trillion) there is a limit to how many people can live in any one area.

No country needs population growth to survive.

I have yet to ever hear a good reason why the population needs to be endlessly bigger until it is physically impossible to cram more people on the planet without stacking, other than "making babies is fun".

I don't think people necessarily want the population to grow. They just want there to be more people of their own particular stripe, colour, etc. If there is going to be more people, let them all be like me..;-)

There are 6.5 billion people on Earth, not 1 billion.

The Earth's population reached 1 billion way back in the 1850s.

There were just 50 million people in the world in 1000 BC, around the time the Iron Age ended, the Phoenician alphabet was developed, the Iranians entered Persia (modern day Iran) and Zhou zhao wang, King of the Zhou Dynasty of China, died.

In 500 BC, the world's population was 100 million, approximately the time that temple of Jupiter on Rome's Capitoline Hill is dedicated on the ides of September, a solar eclipse occurs in Egypt, Rome becomes a Republic, Bantu-speaking Africans migrate into Uganda and Cadiz in Spain is captured by Carthage.

When Jesus was born, the world's population was 200 million.

From 1000 to 1100, around the time of the Norman Conquest of England, Stephen I becoming King of Hungary, Denmark's annexation of Norway and the invention of gunpowder in China, the world's population was 310 million, around the same size as just the population of the United States. Even then, China had the world's biggest population - it was 60 million, like Britain's is today.

In 1750, the world's population was 791 millon.

It finally reached the 1 billion mark around 1820-1830.

After that, it grew much more rapidly. It reached 2.5 billion in 1950, 4.5 billion in 1980 and today it is 6.5 billion.

In 2050, it'll be around 10 billion.

BUT, the world is NOT overcrowded. The United States (despite its large population) is mostly empty, so too is Canada and Australia. You can travel for hundreds of miles in canada, the US and Australia without even seeing a single person.

The same is true for vast swathes of Russia, Mongolia and other parts of Asia.

And then there's Antarctica - it's twice the size of Canada and has a population of just 1000.

It's real odd with these types of extremists. On the one hand, climate crisis is pushed as devastating, billions will die, which is what this twerp thinks we need. On the other hand, dealing with population growth has been handled quite well in rich nations, where women have more freedoms.

I always wonder what other way one could propose to reduce the population boom that civilized people could find acceptable...
