this is why relgion and government should be separate. if the church wants things one way or another they can preach it to their followers but they should not be able to demand that it become law

As it suits society, right? Every law we have in the west arrived to us through biblical teachings, so now we are to pick those things we want or don't want, right?
Im kinda torn here..Im against abortion..but for killing babies..decisions..
I think the debate would be more civil if people had to refer to their position in a negative way "Im Pro-Baby Murder!/ Pro-Female Slavery!" and the opposing position in the nice neat sanitized "Pro-Choice/Pro-Life". The question isn't pro-choice or pro-life, everybody likes both of them. The question is whats more important, living enslaved or being dead but free.

Exactly, it should be society that dicates what the laws should be, not a piece of fiction from 2000 years ago...

For accusing another person of being intolerant, you sure don't welcome views that differ from your own...

It's always like this with anti-Church people, they scream about the intolerance of the Church and refuse too acknowledge their own intolerance.
I'm tolerant of the bible thumping crowd until they start preaching their self righteous morals to everyone...
Can't say I know too many anti-church people. I know many who disagree with the church, but I wouldn't say they're out-right anti-church.
It is more a case of, Canada is a free country, so if someone wants an abortion it is none of your business. Or do you want your civil rights taken from you as well comrade.
How much is none of our business in Canada? Is it none of our business if a mother murders her day old baby because she changed her mind?
K-dude. I am not anti church. There is a church across the street from my house and I tollorate it just fine. Unlike your intollerance I do more than just tollerate. I accept their fundemental rights to practice their religion and conduct themselves to those morals. I only ask that all the citizens of Canada would be accepting and not just tollerant.
So if you don't want to have an abortion then don't. Just please accept that Canada is a free country. There are many things I don't beleive in but I don't impose my beleifs on others the way the zealot right does.

Well I don't know. I accept your point of view but it is not mine. And the law of our free Canada says I am not required to live by your religion.
lol I try to too. In my opinion.....I know here we go again........A woman has a choice, its THEIR choice. In all the experiences that Ive had Ive never chose abortion BUT it was MY choice.
Right. We always have. Read the rules for correct behaviour in Leviticus and Deuteronomy lately? Many of them would get you into serious trouble with the law these days. Stoning adulterers and rebellious children to death, murdering people who work on Sundays... Our laws don't come from biblical teachings and they never have, we pick what suits us based on existing social conditions and mores. Your claim is just a post hoc rationalization.
