Why do you have a family then?

That doesn't help anyone who is trying to make sense of the book, though. Why wasn't it written clearly in the first place so that even the dumbest of people could understand it and become Christian? It's like, "Gee I think I'll form a company but I'll make the advertising for it unintelligible. "

Yup. And he is also the god of hate and murder and destruction, according to your holey bible.

Why? Because it is by faith, my friend. God can only be believed by faith, not by any physical apparatuses.
How can one have faith in something one does not believe it?

I believe in God, therefore I have faith in God.

What is lacking is faith!

A sooperlong thread! Amazing and here I am dabbling. Until God becomes as activist as his best believers little will be accomplished on Mother Earth. That belief system is best where action not words form the foundation of faith.

Love in action is the revelation of God on earth!

You said it right.

Why do you have a family then? Because God created the first seed. And from that seed, it reproduced after it's own kind. I have the shell of the seed in my father and mother, of which they will die at giving life, as I when my time is done, for I have multiplied my dad and mom's seed six fold. And my six so far have multiplied my six eight fold.
That is my family.

That doesn't help anyone who is trying to make sense of the book, though. Why wasn't it written clearly in the first place so that even the dumbest of people could understand it and become Christian? In studying nature, do we understand all that there is to nature? Why is it so difficult to understand why and ape is an ape and not a human being? Why is science baffled at many things that have no answers..............................................yet?
The smartest people on earth have the hardest time understanding simple faith in God, for the answers they think have to be proven in the natural. Unless, they say God performs a mircle, then we might believe. But then again, that wouldn't be faith would it.
To believe in something we can not see, is faith, and from faith, is hope born.
Hope is what carries us through, for in hope is our salvation; sealed unto the day of our redemption, from the trials and tribulations of this world.

It's like, "Gee I think I'll form a company but I'll make the advertising for it unintelligible. "

Yup. And he is also the god of hate and murder and destruction, according to your holey bible.
Not God, but man!

Man kills, murders and pilfers. Not God! God loves His creation, and mankind can only love God's creation and it's creatures when we are in tune with Him.

You do not know God, for if you did, you would understand who He is.

But, He knows you! And understand your problem with Him. He is a gentleman and gives you a right to descent. You are His creature, believe it or not and He will take care to save you regardless of your actions.
Now tell me, what loving father wouldn't do the same for his son?

I know, I am a father and know exactly what it means to love unconditionally!

You my friend, I love as a brother, and I would go to bat for you any time.

Let me please honor my statement with this one verse?
Joh 15:13 Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.

Truly, you are my friend!

If it were not so, my whole religious belief would be a sham!

Uhuh. I'm still waiting to be zapped by lightning because of the bet I tried to make with your god.
I could say I was walking along and tripped and fell into a cowpie and say, "God did it cuz he's mad at me", but I'd know it was my own clumsy feet that did the deed.

Natural phenomenon is what mankind seeks to acquire faith, but faith is the pricking of the heart, a supernatural thing.
If God is to identify Him self to you, it will be a prick to the heart, no more, no less.
It is called: circumcision of the heart!
:read2:Rom 2:29 But he is a Jew, which is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit, and not in the letter; whose praise is not of men, but of God.

Before him was God! Can you top that?
Unless of course god doesn't exist, thereby nullifying everything godly.
If that's the case, truly I really don't have an argument, do I?

Better to know and be silent , then to gab and not know.

Peace>>>AJ:love9:
Did your god write that concept down anywhere? Speaking of writing things down, Genesis wasn't written until about 1450 BC, so before that your gods didn't exist. Plenty of other gods did, though. The ancient Greeks invented their gods around 7th ot 8th century BC (that's a few thousand years before 1450 BC, BTW) Mayans invented their gods long before 1450 BC, as well. Persians, Hindus, all had invented gods before Christians did. So can you top that? Your god is just a puppy in comparison to other gods. So as you say, better to know and be silent, than to gab and not know.
Besides, Sun Tzu was actually proven to have existed, as you say.

So why have the book at all then if it's not needed? If it is needed then it should be written clearly so as to be understood by its readers. Contradiction and oxymorons are not condusive to clear understanding.

I believe in God, therefore I have faith in God.

What is lacking is faith!
Speaking of contradictions............

Hope is hope. It's basis is not faith. I don't have faith that I'll get to visit New Zealand but I can sure hope I get to visit it.

According to your bible, man didn't level Sodom and Gommorah, your hateful god did. According to your bible, it wasn't man who flooded the planet and kill tons of life, it was your god that did that. Shall I go on?

How convenient that the people who supposedly need faith can't acquire it unless they have faith.

My friend, the kind of faith I am talking about has to do with faith towards God.
Everyone on this here earth has faith on some things to some degree, on this earth.

Godly type of faith is one that allows us to understand who God is.
Again, how can you have faith in God when you know not God?
God has revealed to us who He is by the prophets, and by His Son. He has declared who God is in Himself.
If one does not believe in what He said, how then can faith in Him be exercised?
1Jo 5:4 For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.

Better said than I.

Reminds me of being a youngster out looking for a job. 9 outta 10 times it's, "you can't have the job because you don't have experience". "But", you answer,"How can I get experience if I can't get a job"?

How is "faith" different than "trust". I have faith and trust in all of my family and that includes my
beautiful chocolate lab, that I adore completely.
I can't put faith in something I don't know, or see, or trust, there has to be something solid for me
to "let go" and put my entire faith into, not the fantasies of other people.

When my daughters were little, they came home from catechism one day and informed us, that we
were not their "real" parents, god was. Um, excuse me? I have some memories of certain
events that took place in the past. I paid a lot more attention to what they were being told from
that point on, for sure, and after a while, we were called and told that if "we" did not attent church,
then our children also were not "welcome" to attend either.
They didn't even know us, but felt they could make ultimatums, or use scare tactics.
At that point in life, we were not believers any longer anyway, just trying to help our children
become a little more "educated" re: religion, so that they could someday make their own choice
as to believe or not.

They have similar meanings according to the dictionary. Synonyms of each other. There's a great deal of difference, however, in having faith or trust in one's family members, and having faith in something that is a product of imagination.

Or that you believe is a product of the imagination. Clearly millions of others do not agree with your version.

I don't care what it is: I asked you that if you need no-one but your god then why do you have a family?>>>Gilbert

If my life were in a life threatening situation where I would be asked to defy my God, denounce Him or my life would be required, I would not find my family helpful.
But as for my God, I would only need Him for strength to forgive my persecutors as I would be obedient to His will.

Mat 10:28 And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.

These set of instructions were given prior to the Cross as Jesus had not yet paid the price for the penalty of hell and death.

But after that penalty was paid, and His disciples saw Him again, He promised them power over the flesh.
That: being the day of Pentecost.
The disciples were than emboldened by the Holy Spirit which was in them to where the verse spoken above by Jesus was confirmed in their hearts and were not afraid to die.

God then became to them as father, mother sister and brother.

Mat 12:50 For whosoever shall do thewill of my Father which is in heaven, the same is my brother, and sister, and mother.

God is my family…………………………my spiritual family of which I am born into.

Ah, "the appeal to authority". It's a false argument ( http://www.don-lindsay-archive.org/skeptic/arguments.html ). What others believe in this matter does not make it fact. I don't believe there's no gods, I'm sure of it. I don't believe there wasn't a Jesus, I'm sure there wasn't. I'll remain sure of it until there is some scientific evidence that says I am wrong. There is no more evidence of gods existing than there is of faeries, goblins, sprites, and werewolves existing.

The question again is: How can one have faith in something one does not believe in?
If you don't believe in God, by reasons of knowledge of Him given in a book (Bible), how then could anyone possibly have faith in Him?

If He made Himself real, as you would like to see, feel and hold, then what reason would there be for faith?
:read2:Heb 11:1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
Faith and trust are the self same thing.
If I were to fly by airplane to another country, I would have to have faith in the airlines, the pilot and the plane that it would get me there safely.

Or, should I say, I trust that they would? If either , then my life would be yielded into their trust.

:read2:Heb 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

Believe, trust in faith, submit and be rewarded with life.

In your mind yes! But in God's mind: NO!

If I am to love you as I love my self what difference would it make whether you were my father, mother sister or brother?

God is no respecter of persons. One as all and all as one.

:read2:Act 10:34 Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons:

And he was
and is correct!

:read2:Gal 3:28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.

You are my family if I am to believe, have faith and trust in God.

:read2:1Jo 4:20 If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen?

Need I say more?

Notice that I included all? Have you being reading the news about "some" priests behavioral patterns?

My point is to point to God for our strength. For when we think we are strong,we rely on our own strength, but when we are weak, we relay on God's strength. The first is pride, and the second is humbleness.

Peace>>>AJ:love9:

Very true. Our biggest problem is when we give ourselves the vanity of thinking we are fully capable of doing things for ourselves without God. Leads to pride and arrogance, and then we fall, and realize we should have kept our faith!
