Why are you so sensitive and testy? Presented with eveidence, rather than debate the topic, you won't look at it with some "its not from the church so it is a lie" rhetoric. I don't mind a debate, and you have not offended me in any way. What is the purpose of posting something if you can't or won't defend it?

Of course it is my fault that I have been personally insulted, called names and attacked. Forgive me for holding to a belief system that you enlightened souls disprove of.

Well, I must have misundertood posts by people like Cdn Bear. It must have indeed been my fault again. How dare I not subscribe to the politically correct version of my faith!!! But, it is obvious I am so ill-informed!!!How can I possibly debate with such intellectual giants!!! After all, you have all read books! Again, forgive my failings to be as intellectually sound as some of the forum members.
I'm not in the least prone to believing in thesuperstitious, but that definitely looks like an insult to me, and a pretty childish one.
The Caracal Kid asked quite reasonably for an example of an insult you've suffered, Sanctus, and instead of answering you go off in a series of posts in a mode that looks to me like self-righteous self-pity. Not very attractive. I'd have expected better from a good Christian gentleman, though even the best of those obviously have limits, being merely human, but it's not clear what pushed you over the line. And when you finally do provide an example, it's from a private message. Stuff that nobody else can see isn't evidence, though I see that it's gone now, replaced with a line of #.
If you really want to leave the forums, you don't have to deal with the mods or admins, all you have to do is leave, i.e. just stop posting. I wish you wouldn't though. Obviously we disagree on just about everything when it comes to matters of religion, but you have a lively mind and a lot to say. I've been to your web site and read some of your poetry too. As I've said elsewhere on these forums, if we agreed on everything there'd be nothing to talk about.
One thing that a life in science has taught me is that I must always be open to the possibility that I might be wrong. If I am, it can only be people like you who prove it to me. Stick around. I want people like you in my life to test my own thinking against.

Thank you. I was in a "mood" yesterday, for a variety of personal reasons. It was, to say the least, an emotional roller-coaster day that, amongst other things, involves the potential death of a very close family member. Not an excuse, an explanation.As you wrote, even people of faith have those times when they think "enough is enough". I wiped out the personal post because it was not fair to harbour ill will to the perpetuator. Better instead to pray for them. I suspect this comment will invite a slew of new religious insults.So be it.

Forums are strange places - revealing human nature to be many times at its worst. What this thread represents to me is a battering (however passive aggressive) which the ever omnipresent "watch crew"
have allowed to go on.
There are a few members here who will be reprimanded for one or two posts on other issues on other threads, but somehow these high level intellect batterings have either been allowed or unnoticed.
It has become a gathering of a fora mob - and I sensed earlier last month that China was going to get stoned, but it would seem you have replaced him and his reflective messages.
Even I fell into the pattern of "hit out at the different guy" - until I caught myself doing what I truly dislike - judging another without truth and fact.
You do not have to apologize for the allegations thrown at you, nor do you have to explain deeply personal reasons for being sensitive, for it is the very reason we gather at these town fountains to break away from reality for a while is it not? If you cannot find relief in just being with people who brighten up your world or exercise your mind....then what?
I fail to see how you have done anything of which you are accused except perhaps discuss issues on a different level and an unusual perception - for which you are being chastized and mocked.
You are far stronger than letting a cranky majority get to you - and I ask that you stay with it - because you only need one or two who appreciate what you write and how you think to be valued for your writing....
And I don't know why I should do this but I apologize for the silence of the "moderators". It is a loud and screaming silence is it not?

I have started off getting on Sanctus' case about my anger with the Church - and while he represents the modern Church - he cannot be responsible for the laws of that body.
We can discuss what we dislike, ask questions to clarify things which we don't understand, and even remark on the apparent stupidity of some of the Church's rules, but ....
Sanctus is not responsible for the whole Church.....but necessarily his answers must be committed to that Church.
I realize now the tremendous input from people priests must carry from their believers, and perhaps coming to a secular gathering such as this forum, can give him a bit of relief - even with the rabble rousers here many of whom have great intellect, interesting dialogue and represent a cross-section of our world....
.....I would hope Sanctus be allowed "recreational time here" as much as we allow it for ourselves without
the constant challenging people are giving him..... for whatever your personal reasons are.... none of us are perfect.
