UEFA have told Croatia's racist fans - who made a human swastika during a recent game against Italy - that if they racially abuse England's black players during Wednesday's Euro 2008 qualifier then their team may be kicked out of the tournament.

VILE ... Croatia fans make human swastika during a recent game against Italy

By MARK IRWIN
October 10, 2006

CROATIA could be kicked out of Euro 2008 if fans abuse England’s black players tomorrow.

Soccer chiefs fear trouble after 200 of their supporters formed a human swastika at a friendly in Italy.

UEFA’s William Gaillard warned: “We won’t tolerate racism. We have had many problems with this in Eastern Europe before and Croatia have been among the worst offenders.

“But we are determined this will not happen again and will send out a strong message to stop any incidents during the game against England.

“FIFA have recently introduced new rules which can, in extreme cases, lead to a team being docked points or even being excluded from the competition.

“Because of the problems we have encountered with Croatian teams in the past, they have been warned future sanctions will be much heavier than any which have been imposed for previous incidents.”

Croatian supporters have a long history of racism. The nation’s federation were fined after French players were racially abused and white supremacist banners were displayed at Euro 2004.

And UEFA were fuming following the human swastika incident in Livorno, Italy, two months ago.

Action group Let’s Kick Racism out of football will today launch a Kick It Out Week of Action in the community.

But once it all kicks off, of course, it will be the fault of the English fans.... it always is.

That's such a childish load of BS, my club enjoyed their most succesful period in history in the mid-80's and they were denied the chance to compete at a higher level because of poxy ignorant people at UEFA like yourself.

I've travelled around europe, go to Romania, go to any Eastern European country, like Turkey for example and you'll see a far worse level of hooliganism and racism than was EVER shown in England by so-called fans. Hillsborough was caused by police ignorance, Turin was a 50/50 split between Italian and British fans.

Still don't let the truth get in the way of English football fan-bashing Eastside Scotian.....give a dog a bad name........

I dont think English fans cause much trouble - but when confronted, we are happy to turn it into a riot. We defend each other. If a Turkish group pick on a few English fans, then all the English fans bundle in.

Also EastSide, I think we should punish the team. Its the biggest way we can hit their fans. If they cant watch them live, they will watch it on TV and still celebrate when they win, or cause trouble when they lose. Take the game away - neither can happen.

The problem that annoyes me is that the amount of racial hooliganism that Turkey has already shown, with the murder of a Leeds fan, the racial taunting of players for example is FAR worse than English fans have ever commited.

But they won't ban Turkey for five years now will they?

ignorance, sheer ignorance.

Totally agree Daz.

We are not that bad a nation - we are usually scape goats - ever noticed that there is rarely violence at England home games, its only when they play in other countries... surely that tells UEFA something.

Now your just saying that to wind us up!!.

I've been to Canadian Lacrosse and Hockey games, been to US NFL, NBA and Baseball games, there's a different attitude to games in north america.......well, for one, we don't just go to games to eat food.

oh and we don't need an electronic scoreboard to direct our singing.

But unless you are not from north America, you'll never understand. Plus what your talking about English football "hooligans" is garbage.

I would hope not, the Spice Girls would be very upset Brit's were unable to recite their anthems from heart.

The spice girls?, I thought you were gonna use some imagination with your witty comeback. for example Will Champion's (saints fan like me) band's songs...you know, Coldplay? for example.

You mean like "Lets go ranger's"?.

how about this one, it's spice girl relation:

"Posh spice is a slapper, she stinks of smelly cod, and when she's shagging Beckham, she thinks of Oremorod!!!" - class, imagination, creativity.

or..."if I had the wings of a sparrow...if I had the wings of a crow, I'd fly over fratton 2moro, and ****e on the bstrds below!!, below!!"..

And actually, I've quite heartfully sang "Abide with me" at an FA Cup final....your just playing up to stereotypes.

Coldplay doesn't strike me as being "sport" music. Their music belongs in a department store or an art gallery.

Beautiful world is a classic amoungst us saints fans actually.

And how about Gerry and the pacemakers's "you'll never walk alone"?, is that not a peice of musical genius that outweighs anything written by the spice girls and Liverpool fans manage it quite well actually.

I've seen a great many teams play, I missed the Argos when I was in Toronto last, I saw a very breif glimpse of Lacrosse, I caught the NY Rangers take on the New Jersey Devils at the garden, caught the US playing Mexico in Chicago, caught a Bull's game there and watched Baseball in memphis.

I shall certainly watch Toronto FC when I'm up there next

So english Fans can cause riots, fight other fans, and hold up signs curseing out other team palyers?

Seems like a dubble standard to me.

But if its the british being bashed then its not fair or its intorable.

I agree racism is foolish as hell. But Hooliganism is Hooliginsim.

Please re-read what you've just wrote.

Hooliginism is indeed hooliginism, but fighting other fans (and this last actually happened at any rate in the early 80's). And as far as I'm aware, there has never been an international hooligan incident involving the welsh, northern irish or scottish, so it's not a "british" problem, just one point of ignorance on your part.

"Dubble standard" nope, not at all, English fans, in most cases fought because they were drunk nd "up for a fight" and often did in the late 70's and early 80's. They were NOT Racially motivated, sure on odd occasions maybe. BUT TURKEY, ISRAEL, ROMANIA, CROATIA, SPAIN (Bananas regularly thrown at black players, international coach calls a black player a "monkey" on TV), FRANCE (racial crowd violence), ITALY(Facist clubs), PORTUGAL(Same as spain), HOLLAND(racial crowd violence), GERMANY(usually violent and often racist gangs fight all the time)...these are all countries with a MUCH higher percentage of a racial and violent hooligan element than there EVER was in England....

But who get's banned?, who get's the world-wide bad name?....ohhhhhhhh

Let me think???????
Do some research and don't mke crude and frankly wrong statements please.

I guess all in all it takes someone who isnt English to realize how foolish the english act at sports games. Racisim Aside. If we want to talk about intorelabe actions, the English do it all the time....

I think you are over-simplifying it.

English football fans are as "yobbish" as any other nation, and for the last 20 years, much less. As I've stated before, it IS a very different world, as a foreigner (or Bilyati as I like to call ya), a north american nontheless, you WILL NOT and CANNOT understand the English, or indeed British public's attitdue to sports events.

It is a particular class of people who are generally "louts", you know, the kind of people that cannot afford healthcare, let alone go to $50 dollar a seat games week in and week out. The british public have had to put up with being caged in electrified pens, systematically choaked to death by incompatant police and money grabbing owners.

England gave the world Soccer, it spread it all over the continents. It's agression can be attributed to many things. BUT, I think your views on English football Hooliganism is VERY out of date, WRONG and general just stupid.
