Things are only a little different. I think everyone will get used to the new style. Time will tell just how much has changed as you explore all the features.

I like it OK but the avatars are a little small.

Hey, I miss the 'watch this thread ' feature already

Hey, What time are we on? Mine says 07:11pm but my post is at 04:55 pm (approx).

Heya. You can still watch a topic. Its just in a different way now. On the top orange bar, click "Thread Tools".. then click "Subscribe to thread".

The software gives you many more options on how to deal with threads you're watching. Please explore, I'm not yet totally familiar with each feature myself.

Change is a good thing..c'mon ! W:rolleyes: asn't it just a bit too boring previously?

Change is good if your getting a divorce but if your reading the Wall Street Journal you like to find the editorial on page 8 not 12 (just an example don't go looking.)

What does this mean please?

feronia, you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons:
  1. Your user account may not have sufficient privileges to access this page. Are you trying to edit someone else's post, access administrative features or some other privileged system?
  2. If you are trying to post, the administrator may have disabled your account, or it may be awaiting activation.

I get it when I click the top 15 links.

Thought for sure I was banned. But I haven"t given anyone cause for that yet so I figured it was a glitch.

There appears to be something out of whack in the Last 15 Threads area. Hang in there, no divorces.

I too have the access problem

Also we appear to have been swallowe by CBC and CTV again. two threads by anyone except them.

Maybe my opinion on this is unusual, but I consider all these CBC and CTV threads as a commercialisation of the forum... did we have them before but just not on the front page?

When i signed in this morning I had access to only one post which wasn't a news post, and that was mine, to which no-one has replied.

Andem I know we're all moaning and complaining a lot but is it at all possible to make the structure of the forum the same as it was? the 15 latest posts thing is OK but it doesnt work the same way as the old one. For instance, if a member makes a thread and it turns out to be popular, generating dozens of posts, in the old system, that kept it near the top and always visible at the front page, nowadays it doesnt matter how popular a thread is, if CBC or anyone else posts 15 threads, it's wiped off, and hence much harder for people to find, and may be missed, therefore the level of intelligent debate is lost.

I know it seems petty but structural decisions like this are fundamental to the very nature of the forum. these are very important issues

I was just about to mention that about the posts. It seems now no point posting on an older post because it doesnt come up for anyone to see that further discussion has occurred on it. I dont even seem to be able to get into the 15 post section- am I banned from it?

Also, on MY POST, it keeps repeating the same post multiple times each time you have entered something. It should only list each post as before, and it doesnt tell you if someone else has responded- you only see your own post and have to keep going in to find out if there is an answer.

OK I'm weighing in now ...I hope others have suggestions more important than my grumpy grizzle.

After a few days on operating on the new format, I have to say it is cumbersome and cluttered.
You have a group of interesting posters who have topics to share and knowledge I would like to read
but everything seems thrown in together now - even when divided by topic.

Too many features which we don't need, too much "information" instead of a nice fresh space to post our
thoughts which then come up as a new post for everyone to notice when they open the forum.

For example: the features such as "parsing" and "options", etc. included with the Submit Reply are unnecessary.
We aren't writing theses here - just communicating as we would do in person in a coffee shop or pub.

A one liner of comment gets lost in all the "window dressing" and after we post - nothing comes up on the
opening page.... one has to literally search for the post just made.

The first page one views "Last 15 posts" has no relationship to what the membership has actually posted. We have to now to to another heading - "New Posts" to find what was originally the first thing we read when we signed on. This is a step I think most of us are finding unnecessary. The goal is to open up the forum to see who has posted, what topics are being discussed and whethere we wish to make comments or just read and move along. [Edit: Now I see that page has disappeared and New Posts by time are again back on the opening page...thanks. ]

All these gimmicks are distracting - not to mention it takes forever to scroll around ... way too fussy and time wasting.

The graphics are limited and not much fun any more - but perhaps that is intentional. I personally like graphics but they eat up space and other things I don't understand.

Andem for all your hard work, I apologize for my whine. This doggie just don't hunt.

With sincere apologies....

Alright guys, I've tried to design a new module for latest threads which resembles what you are all used to. Remember that the icon with the arrow pointing down is a link leading to the first thread that you have not read yet. A useful feature indeed. I will also work on filtering out CBC and CTV News posts. The latest news from these organisations is not intended to be commercialised but just a quick source for news updates. I hope you all understand that.

I WAS having trouble like that about an hour ago. It was related to two topics which seem to have vanished now. one was about the 15 most recent topics. can't remember the other one
