In the Chinese language the word tao means "Way," indicating a way of thought or life.

If you can locate a small book by Alan Watts titled: What is Tao? that's probably a good start. There are many resources available if you get stuck just leave a note here at CanCon and I'll provide more info...

Taoism is a philosophy a perspective a study of the Tao Te Ching....

This book has been translated into more languages and across more cultures than the Bible.

As far as "what" it is "The longest journey begins with the first step", and your own discovery of "what" it is would be better than any explanation I could give...

Buddhism and Taoism share many expressions or nuances and in one school of Taoism various god figures are acknowledged but there is no bedrock deist creator kind of notion; this form incorporates many aspects that westerners might call pagan or primitive and include references to alchemy etc.

I endeavor to live by a Taoist philosophical worldview that yess is somewhat similar to Buddhism but there are differences you might like to explore for yourself....

wow never knew thanks. Still love the philosophy of it tho, well the part that I know that is.
Strange when i was exploring different philosophies and religion my mind seamed to expand and the equations of life seemed at my grasp. I emphisize SEEMED .I was also doig TAI_CHI and without the teachers influence I was putting two and two together (so to speak) and understanding the way of life through the movements of this act. I missed that very much those were my days of ZEN.
