President Trump said on Monday that Mr. Musk’s email demanding that federal workers justify their jobs was “ingenious” and “great” and repeated Mr. Musk’s written warning: “If you don’t answer, you’re sort of semi-fired or you’re fired.”
But even as televisions played Mr. Trump’s comments, his personnel department informed agencies that responding to the Musk email was now “voluntary” and that failing to respond would not be considered a resignation, as Mr. Musk had indicated.
The nearly simultaneous messages added to days of confusion after Mr. Musk’s weekend email fractured Mr. Trump’s cabinet, with the leaders of some departments ordering their employees to comply and others directing workers to ignore the threat.

…& the other way too, but not right across the board on everything. Softwood lumber today, not after the 25% incoming, is already tariffed from Canada to America at 14%, so add another 25% & that’s 39%.
If 25% across the board on Canadian goods comes into effect on March 4th, then on March 12th an additional 25% on Aluminum & Steel imports…that’s 50% just there.
If America already gets a 20-30% discount on Canadian Crude exports, another 10% on March 4th equals what for Canada as far as being competitive in its pricing? those are just three off the top of my head.

You do understand that….Tariffs beget reciprocal tariffs, & that domestic tariffs upon Americans are (in Trumps mind) there to reduce demand for the Canadian products in America that he’s putting them on, right?
And tariffs reduce trade. Raise the price, reduce the sales. This is duh-level economics.
