Sadly, I had a poor experience in a big box store this season.

While talking on the phone with my Wife over what product she wanted me to pick up a gaggle of East Indian people literally walked into me in an aisle.

Not one of them walked around me as I had my back turned talking on the phone.

My cell was knocked out of my hand as this happened as I was unable to see them coming and I caught my balance and grabbed the first guy whom I assume had bumped me.

When I say "bumped" I should use "shoved" or maybe "body checked" instead.

Next thing I know I have a gang of East Indian people shouting at me and pointing fingers with most of the language used not being English.

Security was called and we were all taken to a smaller section of the store to wait while CCTV was reviewed.

Lucky for me, CCTV showed a basic trampling because they decided they wanted to all walk down the aisle without moving aside.

The local police service was called and I was offered to press charges the "bumping" was so violent.

Before CCTV was checked I was a "violent racist" and after when I offered to press charges those same people suddenly issuing multiple apologies and were crying, all in English.

That's it.

I'm done being polite about it.

I'm sorry that happened to you, and I congratulate you on the way you handled, and I'm happy how it turned out.

But I would point out that this was one gaggle of East Indians, not the entire population of them. I could give you examples of White Canadians who acted like assholes, individually or in groups. That does not make all White Canadians assholes, and the actions of this gaggle of assholes says nothing about East Indians generally, in Canada or otherwise.

While I agree that this can happen with any ethnic group I wish I could say that this was a single incident of Immigrant social clash with East Indians I have experienced and they are starting to happen more and more.

Your call, of course, but I urge you to press the charges. Tolerating this shit just makes it more likely.
I declined, mostly because it wasn't worth MY time, but I suspect that no matter what I do these folks are going home and telling everyone about the racist white guy that accosted them at the store, even if it isn't true.

What was kind of sad was the LEO who was telling me this sort of thing happens a lot that they have seen lately as it's not a big deal for some ethnicities from these areas to just push through crowds or not have social skills around these crowds as they come from a place where you just do what you need to do to get where you need to go or get what you want.

I have a certain sympathy for the LEO's explanation, but damned little. "When in Rome" and all that.

Up to you on the pressing charges. The government doesn't actually need you to do so, they just generally won't unless you're willing to spend the time and effort.
