Kamala Harris ripped for 'fake' cartoon-like accent at Detroit rally

Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris was in Detroit on Labour Day, pitching herself to blue-collar union workers in the critical, and currently blue, battleground state.

Her speech was fiery, however many who watched her speech noted an accent emerge.

“You better thank a union member for the five-day work week,” Harris told the crowd with a noticeable shift in her timbre.

“You better thank a union member for sick leave,” she continued amid applause. “You better thank a union member for paid leave. You better thank a union member for vacation time.”

The Libs of TikTok account on X asked, “What did I just watch… what’s with this new accent? The fakeness and cringe here is off the charts.”

Trump’s senior advisor Stephen Miller wrote: “This is her seventh new accent in four weeks. She has literally never used this accent before. She grew up in Canada. Phoniest politician in all of politics.”

GOP strategist Matt Whitlock called Harris’ politicking a “performance.”

He declared: “She changes fake accents like she changes policy positions and political personas. Today she’s talking in a fake southern accent, pretending to be a moderate. Next week she’ll be back to San Francisco liberal.”

Other critics noted Harris dropped the accent in the exact same speech later that day in Pittsburgh.

“Same speech. Two entirely different accents,” conservative commentator Greg Price noted, sharing clips from each rally.

Another clip from the vice president’s speech in Detroit was shared on social media by Trump campaign advisor Alex Bruesewitz, in which she says with a cackle, “Let’s just get through the next 64 days how ‘bout that?”

In a clip of her speaking to the Pittsburgh crowd, she says with a notably different inflection, “So friends, 64 days until the most…election of our lives.”

One X user compared the accent to a Looney Tunes character, writing, “She’s turned into Foghorn Leghorn.”

Harris has repeatedly been accused of switching up her accent, depending on her audience.

Earlier this summer, she was savaged for faking a Southern accent at a rally in Atlanta.

In 2021 while touring a COVID lab in France, critics claimed Harris went French.

Harris currently leads national polls by about 3 percentage points on average, but the Electoral College is what actually determines the outcome. That means to win the presidency, Harris and Trump need to pick up as many swing states as possible. And as of midday Tuesday, state polling averages from publications like Silver Bulletin, Real Clear Politics, FiveThirtyEight, and the New York Times point to hair-raisingly tight contests in the most important swing states.

Polling averages tell you what the polling currently shows, but election forecasts, in theory, are supposed to do something extra: to anticipate via modeling how the race may change between now and Election Day.

That has proven contentious in an election year that has, in the past few months, veered off into uncharted territory with Democrats’ late Biden-for-Harris swap.

The Trump-Harris debate is on September 10, just one week away.

Philadelphia Eagles remove viral ‘counterfeit’ Kamala Harris ads from bus stops
Ads claimed that U.S. vice president was the "official candidate" of the NFL team

The Philadelphia Eagles famously won a Super Bowl thanks to a trick play, but now someone has pulled a trick on them.

The team is working to have “counterfeit” ads removed from around the city of Philadelphia which endorse U.S. Vice-President Kamala Harris as the “official candidate” of the team.

The ads were posted on several bus stops around the city feature a cartoon of a woman resembling Harris holding a football and wearing an Eagles helmet. Below is the team’s logo and “KAMALA” in all-caps.

A URL at the bottom which directs to the team’s actual website offers nonpartisan voting information for residents of Pennsylvania and New Jersey.

“We are aware counterfeit political ads are being circulated and are working with our advertising partner to have them removed,” the Eagles posted on their X account.

Many Eagles supporters spoke up about the ads on social media with some even threatening to abandon their fandom.

“I hope the graffiti artists do the right thing here,” one user wrote on X.

Another wrote that “If this is a fact I personally will not root or watch any games this season and will be hoping they lose as bad as Kamala is about to lose this election!”

“I saw those ads and literally threw up. I can no longer support this team,” a third replied.

In a statement to a local NBC affiliate, Intersection Media, which owns the ad space, said that ads were unauthorized and the company is removing them.

“We are aware that several of our bus shelters located in Philadelphia have been vandalized and that the paid advertising copy in each of those shelters has been replaced with unauthorized copy,” a spokesperson wrote. “While our bus shelters have locks that typically prevent the installation of unauthorized copy by non-Intersection staff, occasionally people find a way to unlock the ad box and insert unauthorized copy.

“The unauthorized copy in this case implies an endorsement of Vice-President Kamala Harris by the Philadelphia Eagles.

“We note that the Eagles and Intersection had nothing to do with the creation or posting of this unauthorized copy and Intersection staff will be removing the ads as soon as possible.”

According to NBC, all seven of the ads had been taken down by Tuesday.

The Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office confirmed to the outlet that its election taskforce is investigating the incident.

While no one has taken credit for the viral ads, some have posited the artwork is that of Winston Tseng, a street artist who satirizes brands to highlight societal issues.

'Nostradamus' of elections predicts Kamala Harris will win White House
Author of the article:postmedia News
Published Sep 07, 2024 • 1 minute read

Kamala Harris will be the next president of the United States.

That according to American University professor Dr. Allan Lichtman, who has earned the reputation as being the Nostradamus of U.S. elections after correctly predicting nine of the last 10 presidential races.

Lichtman’s videotaped prediction that Harris, the current vice-president, would defeat former president Donald Trump to keep the White House in Democratic hands on Nov. 5 was posted to the New York Times website on Thursday.

Lichtman, 77, has become famous for his presidential predictions, which are based on his own “Keys to the White House,” 13 categories that assess each candidate’s prospects of winning.

In the video, Lichtman suggested that Harris has the advantage in eight “keys” while Trump comes out on top in three. Despite Harris joining the campaign late after President Joe Biden bowed out in July, the professor still believes she will win.

“The keys absolutely will work — they are the constant northern star of political prediction,” he said before adding that “the outcome is up to you, so get out and vote.”

Lichtman, a registered Democrat, says some of his keys could still “flip” but it won’t be enough to give Trump his second term as president.

Lichtman claims to have correctly predicted how every presidential race turned out since 1984, but that seems to be a stretch, according to the New York Post.

In 2000, he claimed Al Gore would beat George W. Bush for the presidency. Gore won the popular vote but lost the Electoral College, making Bush the president and giving Lichtman the loss.

According to the Post, Harris holds a 2.4 percentage point advantage over Trump in polls while Nate Silver’s recent forecast gives Trump a 58.2% chance of winning.

The two presidential candidates are scheduled to debate each other Sept. 10 in Philadelphia. The debate will be aired by ABC News.

Janet Jackson dismisses unauthorized apology after questioning Kamala Harris' race
'She’s not Black. That’s what I heard. That she’s Indian'

Janet Jackson is claiming she did not authorize an apology after she made comments about Vice-President Kamala Harris’ racial identity in a new interview.

Jackson’s remarks about Harris came during an interview with The Guardian in which the pop star questioned the vice-president’s heritage and regurgitated what she had been “told” about the Democratic presidential nominee’s background.

“Well, you know what they supposedly said?” Jackson told the news outlet. “She’s not Black. That’s what I heard. That she’s Indian.”

When the interviewer said Harris is both Black and Indian, Jackson claimed her father is actually White.

“Her father’s White. That’s what I was told. I mean, I haven’t watched the news in a few days,” she said. “I was told that they discovered her father was White.”

Harris’ father is Jamaican and her mother, who died in 2009, was born in India.

Jackson’s comments sparked immediate backlash on social media, with many of the five-time Grammy winner’s fans accusing her of spreading “damaging disinformation.”

“This whole Janet Jackson thing just goes to show you how out of touch some celebrities are,” one person wrote. “I’ve always loved her but repeating lies!? Smh. If you don’t know about a subject, then don’t speak on it… especially with your platform. Educate yourself, please!”

“Janet Jackson is one of the most influential people in music history. It was simply irresponsible of her to repeat something she ‘heard’ regarding the very thing that they use against Kamala! Her own race,” another person commented. “We are less than 50 days away from the election. We gotta talk smarter!”

Jackson’s opinions echoed one Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump made in July.

“(Harris) was only promoting Indian heritage,” Trump said in an interview at the National Association of Black Journalists convention. “I didn’t know she was Black until a number of years ago, when she happened to turn Black, and now she wants to be known as Black…Is she Indian or is she Black?”

As her Guardian interview made the rounds online, in a statement to Variety, USA Today and other media outlets, reps for Jackson said an “apology” attributed to the singer by Mo Elmasri, who claimed to be her manager, was not authorized.

The apology, which was published by Buzzfeed and appeared in multiple major outlets, read: “Janet Jackson would like to clarify her recent comments. She recognizes that her statements regarding Vice President Kamala Harris’ racial identity were based on misinformation. Janet respects Harris’ dual heritage as both Black and Indian and apologizes for any confusion caused. She values the diversity Harris represents and understands the importance of celebrating that in today’s society. Janet remains committed to promoting unity and understanding.”

Elmasri was not authorized to make the statement to Buzzfeed, the singer’s reps said in a statement to USA Today, nor has he ever worked on Jackson’s team.

Variety noted that the Miss You Much singer has been managed by her brother Randy for a number of years.

In an email to Variety, Elmasri, whose Internet Movie Database bio claims he has worked as a creative consultant for Janet Jackson, Beyonce, Britney Spears and Selena Gomez, pledged his support to Vice-President Harris and confirmed he did not work for Jackson.

“I no longer work for her. I was fired by Janet and Randy, after attempts to improve her image in front of public opinion and her fans, and this is something I do not deserve,” he told the outlet.

Elsewhere in her interview with The Guardian, Jackson was asked if she thinks America is ready for its first woman president, to which she replied, “Honestly, I don’t want to answer that because I really, truthfully, don’t know. I think either way it goes is going to be mayhem.”
