WASHINGTON — YouTube says the channels of a far-right Canadian influencer have been removed after U.S. officials alleged the company she co-founded received US$760,000 in fees and commissions as part of an alleged Russian ploy to dupe right-wing influencers into sowing division among Americans.

An indictment filed Wednesday charged two employees of RT, a Russian state-controlled media outlet, in a US$10-million scheme that purportedly used social media personalities to distribute content with Russian government messaging.

While not explicitly mentioned in court documents, the details match up with Tenet Media, founded by Canadian Lauren Chen and Liam Donovan, who identifies as her husband on social media.

“Following an indictment … and after careful review, we are terminating the Tenet Media channel and four channels operated by its owner Lauren Chen as part of our ongoing efforts to combat co-ordinated influence operations,” a YouTube spokesperson said in a statement.

Chen, listed as a contributor on RT’s website, was born in Canada and raised in Hong Kong. Her other social media accounts had fallen silent since the indictment and she had not responded to an emailed request for comment.

Court documents allege the Russians created a fake investor who provided money to the social media company to hire the influencers, paying the founders significant fees, including through a company account in Canada.

The two RT employees, Kostiantyn Kalashnikov and Elena Afanasyeva, are charged with conspiracy to commit money laundering and violating the Foreign Agents Registration Act.

The U.S. Justice Department doesn’t allege any wrongdoing by the influencers.

Among Tenet Media personalities are popular influencers Tim Pool, Dave Rubin and Benny Johnson. Pool posted on social media that he had been contacted by the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation.

“Should these allegations prove true, I as well as the other personalities and commentators were deceived and are victims,” Pool posted on X.

Right-wing Canadian commentator Lauren Southern is also among the Tenet cast of personalities. She had not posted on social media about the indictment, nor responded to an email asking for comment.

Public Safety Minister Dominic LeBlanc said he could not comment on the investigation but confirmed Canada had been working in close co-operation with the U.S. and other allies.

“Any Canadians who illegally assist in Russia’s persistent attempts to use disinformation, criminal and covert activities, and corruption to undermine our sovereignty and democratic processes will face the full force of Canadian law,” LeBlanc said in a statement Thursday.

But when it's Liberals illegally assisting the CCP to do the same, well, the Libs just sweep it under the rug and do everything they can to keep it quiet. Funny that.

Russia just keeps on getting more and more screwed. As a result of Ukraine's campaign against oil depots, transfer stations and refineries Russia is running out of capacity to store the oil they're producing. This means that in a short period of time, if not already, Russia will have to start shutting down oil wells. The problem is, it's a whole lot easier to shut one down than it is to start it back up again, especially in artic regions. The last time Russia (as the Soviet Union) had to shut down oil wells in Siberia it took them 30 years to finally get them back up and running again, at reduced capacity.

And even though Russia has been able to somewhat skirt the sanctions they still aren't able to export enough oil to alleviate the looming crisis. Funny part is as part of OPEC they petitioned the organization to let them opt out of oil production reductions because of the extreme difficulty in getting their oil wells running again. This argument is well documented among Russians as the Kremlin liked to trot that argument out whenever it suited them. NOW the Putinazis are telling the Russian people that shutting down oil wells won't be any problem (technically not a lie) while acting like firing them back up will be no problem either (a huge lie).

This will also cause other problems like shortages at home as Russia's war "machine" guzzles the fuel Russians will need for heat and cooking. Oh that's right, some Moscow dimwit was telling people a couple of weeks back or so to start stocking up on wood and charcoal and to buy a wood stove.

But the SMO is going as planned. No need to worry. Bringing the war to Russian soil was all in the plan. Russians potentially freezing this winter was all part of the plan. Afterall, Western Russia IS in Europe and Putin did threaten to freeze Europeans so... Bombing their own towns and villages in Kursk Oblast? Hey man, all part of the grand plan.

Russia has been seriously eyeballing Canada's position in the Arctic. In fact earlier this year Russia tried to submit to the UN
a proposal that Russia owns ALL of the arctic waters except the TWELVE mile coastal waters of the other Arctic nations. In other words they tried to claim the Arctic Ocean AND the EEZs of all the other Arctic nations as "Russian".

Why? Because as it stands, if the North-West Passage becomes ice-free year round the vast majority if not all of the NWP is in Canadian territory. Same reason China is trying to claim the entire South China Sea as their own, to control all the commercial shipping lanes that go through those waters.

If the NWP opens up year round it would not only al but kill the Panama Canal and any other canal projects planned to link the Atlantic with the Pacific, it could also seriously reduce traffic in the Suez Canal between Europe and Asia.

Only if the Federation stays Federated. The Stans want out. Russia may have to make a military move on Kazakhstan very soon in order the keep it.

I finally understand the US's reticence to let Ukraine use long range weapons to strike deep inside Russia. They're worried about Russia destabilizing and while that may sound just fine on the surface, it would also put at least some of Russia's nukes at risk of capture/take-over by militant groups within Russia and/or bordering Russia. As counterintuitive as it may sound, even a barely stable Russia is better than a wrecked Russia.

So, it's not the red lines that worried the US, it's not the threat of Russia using any nukes on NATO countries despite their bluster, it's the real potential for more of their nukes to end up going missing, like after the fall of the Soviet Union.

Russia would be the first target of one their nukes on the loose but one of the Stans other tribal Federation types would never have access to the satellites or systems to launch it.

Not to mention the Oil and Gas reserves in the Arctic ocean
