Toronto's ground is covered with more asphalt and concrete than ever before. City Pols blame flooding on "climate change" and not at all on piss poor city planning. I live in the GTA. Our city got hit by the same storm. We got a fucking dumping of rain but didn't come anywhere close to flooding.
Most of the drains to the sewers are covered in crap. They never clean them. When it rains a little bit, the flow is reduced. If its a small storm its not that noticable. Maybe a splash as a car goes through a bigger puddle. But when a lot of rain hits, the water has no place to go.
That and some of the roads they put up barriers to protect the bike lanes. The barriers also prevent the water from reaching the drain.

We got some rain in Scarborough but no flooding. Think most was on west side and downtown.
This picture is in essence the state of Toronto. A once world class city. Clunky sprawling 500sqft condo developments at $2300/unit/month. An arterial highway build next to a river, in a flood plain. Longest commute in North America. Among the highest costing in the world. Vast sub-grade infrastructure in need of repair and replacement (sections at 60-100yrs old). No notable transportation infrastructure improvements since the 1980s.
In comparison actual world class cities have: multi-levels of traffic, pedestrian use, transit use. High speed rails, bullet trains. State of the art underground infrastructure, waste water treatment and storm water management. Lower levels of all buildings used exclusively as markets, small businesses, cafes, grocery stores. Sprawling urban cityscapes - featuring trees, gardens, entertainment areas, walking and biking only streets.

That’s just crazy. Have they called out the military yet? Where are our three battle canoes stationed currently again? Perhaps some SeaKing helicopters, if any of them are still airworthy?
I was once stuck and lost during one of those Southern Ontario sudden rain and wind storms . It was scary as shit , power poles bursting into flames , 6 inches of water everywhere . I didn’t know where I was what direction I was going totally frightening .
I hope there is no loss of life and no damage to homes..

They mentioned on the radio this morning one of the reasons so much water did not drain was it was like the 3rd day in a row with heavy rain and the ground was saturated.
Nah, it's because they're mentally and morally inferior to the Men of Westernesse.
Those storms suck. We get them out in Westernesse also. It’s the weeks & months afterwards with clean up & insurance companies and damp mold and such that really blow as opposed to the two-three days of excitement. The explosions of sow bugs etc…
I have no doubt the mighty Men of Westerness grab their axes and shovels, flex their mighty thews, and have it sorted in time to sit back and enjoy a case of Molson!
