And in all likelihood that barrel got to where it was going via refineries in Texas or California anyhow, because between the two of 'em they have more than half of the world's refining capacity.

The "oil lake" and refining and transport chains are complex beyond belief. And anybody who talks about "net exports" of crude oil like it means anything (besides the profits of that drilling company and the trade balance of the country) is only showing her ignorance. The price of crude is less than half the price of a gallon or litre of gas. The real money's in refining (and, as always, taxation).

Do you not think it would have improved the North American situation to have more pipeline capacity between Canada and the US currently if Keystone XL was still a go?

Do you not think it would have improved options if Trans-Mountain pipeline wasn’t hamstrung (& yes China is across the Pacific, but more than China is across the Pacific) years ago?

Do you not think these policies in North America (putting the kibosh on Trans-Mountain & Keystone XL) empowered both Russia & Saudi Arabia along with the rest of OPEC & OPEC+?

Refining and transport chains are complex, but still point of origin and end user are determining factors.

Yep. I considered on it and did my own research, and determined that pipelines are the hands-down best way to move oil and many other products (water springs to mind).

Probably, but I also believe in the rights of owners.

Somewhat. Every economic decision has costs and tradeoffs. I guess it woulda been cheaper to leave the lead in gas and allow unrestricted smokestack emissions and dumping in rivers, lakes, and the ocean. And set the minimum wage at a buck-nothing. A day.
