Well I do know that the Bolshevics (people's revolution) with the Red army chased my great-grand parents out of Ukraine during the revolution, I don't know how many family members were killed in the Holodomor cleansing that followed. My great grandfathers on both sides were Cossacks that fought against them alongside the White army. Both migrated to Canada my Father's grandfather fought in Eastern Ukraine in the 1st wave, his Grandmother family were farmers on the Polish border. My Mom's both grandparents in second wave, Grandmother's dad was finishing officer training at the end of the revolution, Grandfather's dad was stationed in (both from) Western Ukraine. After Lenin's promise of amnesty to the soldiers were proven false, because of friends that took the offer was never heard from again.

The Bolshevik's was a radical arm of the Marxist social democratic labor party a movement against the crown of Russia, and for the rights of citizens of Russia. (sound familiar?)
