At some time in the future, if the solar system endures long enough it may be in a 1:1 spin-orbit resonance, and so may the earth, tidal effects slow the rotation of every orbiting body, but it's a long process. And, the moon hasn't stopped.

Who said Mohammed or Moses or other prophets knew anything about the rotation of Mercury or Moon?
