Boogaloo Bois: Setting fires and breaking windows, far right extremists are using the George Floyd protest to foment confusion, animosity against legitimate demonstrators, and ultimately civil war.
White nationalists, white supremacists, right wing militias, gun rights extremists, Proud Boys, and other far right extremists have adopted the code word “boogaloo” as a shorthand reference for a hoped for race-based future civil war.
These “boogaloo bois” have been infiltrating recent protests over the police killing of George Floyd, taking advantage of the crowds and the emotionally charged atmosphere to instigate chaos and disruption in an attempt to discredit the Black Lives Matter movement and further their goal of a race-based civil war.
SPLC reports on the “Boogaloo Boys”:“Boogaloo Boys” – individuals associated with an online community characterized by calls for civil strife and ownership of firearms and tactical gear – have advocated for an armed revolution online and at public rallies for months.NPR reports:
