White House tries to block publication of Bolton's book, demands classified info be removed first

In a letter to former national security adviser John Bolton's attorney, the White House said Bolton's upcoming book contains top-secret classified information that must be removed before it can be published.

"Based on our preliminary review, the manuscript appears to contain significant amounts of classified information. It also appears that some of this classified information is at the top secret level," a National Security Council official wrote on Jan. 23, warning against publication before the material is deleted. Bolton's lawyer has said he does not believe the book contains any classified information.

censorship?? obstruction??........Oh my.........they lengths they will not go to for their dear leader. The laws are being tested, twisted until breaking point as well. Rather fascinating.......
It's just a delaying tactic. They know full well that Trump can declare anything he wishes to be classified. But they also know that nonsense would be overturned.

Very seldom think of him? Lol, you post a good amount of the said shit that's on here! Seems to me you do think about him, quite a lot. I mean I don't see you posting in the My Little Pony thread my friend.
Actually, I don't think that's correct. I think JLM is like our federal Liberals, runs on kneejerk reaction. Someone says something and he is compelled to reply.

It is a slow decline and breakdown of thought and awareness that Trumps base is being spoon fed slowly, and they're eating it up. They can't even recognize what's happening to them. It is fascinating.
It's funny. It's what turned American politics into a circus. Someone even made a tv cartoon show out of it. lol

Title 28, Code of Federal Regulations. . .

§ 17.22 Classification of information; limitations.
(a) Information may be originally classified only if all of the following standards are met:

(1) The information is owned by, produced by or for, or is under the control of the United States Government;

(2) The information falls within one or more of the categories of information specified in section 1.5 of Executive Order 12958; and

(3) The classifying official determines that the unauthorized disclosure of the information reasonably could be expected to result in damage to the national security and such official is able to identify or describe the damage.

(b) Information may be classified as Top Secret, Secret, or Confidential according to the standards established in section 1.3 of Executive Order 12958. No other terms shall be used to identify United States classified national security information except as otherwise provided by statute.

(c) Information shall not be classified if there is significant doubt about the need to classify the information. If there is significant doubt about the appropriate level of classification with respect to information that is being classified, it shall be classified at the lower classification of the levels considered.

(d) Information shall not be classified in order to conceal inefficiency, violations of law, or administrative error; to prevent embarrassment to a person, organization, or agency; to restrain competition; or to prevent or delay release of information that does not require protection in the interest of national security. Information that has been declassified and released to the public under proper authority may not be reclassified.

(emphasis mine)
Exactly why, whatever nonsense the president declared classified would be overturned.
It's a good reason Trump's lawyers are panicked, delaying the book, and seeking other ways of defending the indefensible.

Tennessee State Rep. Micah Van Huss (R) on Wednesday proposed legislation in the state’s General Assembly which would recognize CNN and the Washington Post as “fake news.”

The filed bill brands CNN and the Post as both “fake news” and “part of the media wing of the Democratic Party.” The text also accuses the corporate media outlets of “denigrating our citizens and implying that they are weak-minded followers instead of people exercising their rights that our veterans paid for with their blood” — an apparent reference to a recent CNN segment, in which anchor Don Lemon and guests Rick Wilson and Wajahat Ali laughed and mocked Trump supporters as illiterate “credulous rubes.”
He gonna do that about Fox, too? lol

I think it's the depth of intelligence. People seem to comprehend stuff a lot better than others. And those others also seem to confuse thinking a lot with thinking deeply. They aren't the same at all. It;s a bit like the difference between 2 dimensional and 3 dimensional.
