I was disappointed.
I missed the first 30 minutes of the two hour event, since I could not get out of an appt. The place was over capacity, with 50-100 people outside waiting to get in, and one antifa protester across the street. The Wexit group offered tons of blame, however no real solutions. Scheer, Kenney, and Harper were vilified, but the group left out any reference to American groups meddling in affairs,in order to discourage pipeline development to the Far East, so that the US would still be the main consumer, and thus, getting huge discounts for Canadian oil.
In fact, one lady speaker went on to give a presentation about Venezula, and how impoverished their people are, despite having a substantial amount of oil deposits. They lady blamed socialism, and compared the current Government of Canada to that of Venezula. Two or three people actually heckled towards the end, frustrated that the Wexit speakers seemed to lack any direction or economic plan as to what the group would do if they got into power. They did announce they would field candidates in the next Alberta provincial election.
Overall, most attendees seemed to be disappointed, and the speakers for the event we full of hot air, and left more questions than answers in their wake.

Was there at least a snack bar? You usually find cool people there

Too time consuming. Rather spend my time golfing in Phoenix, laying on the beach near PV or sorting bottles
Can't help the wee Canadians due to previous commitments, oh well, they have a big enough anchor anyway.

It would seem the place it tracked 'by others' if the hairy ass got moved to the members only area. The old new site came up one time I logged in and 'poof' gone again.

Soon as you heathens get your act together 'we' can move on. (how do you do that you ask?? . . . enough questions from the gallery) 'Act like an adults' seems like childish advice so I honestly do not have a solid answer.

Of course , much as to be expected at this early stage , if or when sufficient numbers show interest more serious leaders and ideas will emerge .

America was not defeated in war by Vietnam and Canada was not a country in 1814 .
America had the living crap kicked out of them by the Vietnamese.

Were you in Stir when it all happened?

By the way, this place was called "Upper Canada" and further down the St. Lawrence (that's a great, big river pigs) was called "Lower Canada".

.... or posting 24/7 on Canadian Content..
All those 'careers' will be replaced by bots. Maybe it will be a 'clean sweep' with any luck. What kind of luck does a person need to even find this place, let alone decide signing up would be a smart idea? That being said when change comes easy it is rather short lived, when it comes with some resistance and grinding of the teeth it is so long lasting it just keeps improving itself until all the 'rough edges are gone', . . . it's called 'getting a polish'.

Posting 24/7 would be great if he was being helpful for all of it, same with any poster. I even update some of my own posts, like the chains in the snow thread. a 3" wide strip of stainless steel that you just lay down and drive across would be a 21st century set of hiway chains. Renew the cleats 4 times and buy a new set. Cars with almost zero tire clearance need traction devices that are similar to velcro, sticks to the rubber as well as itself on the overlap.

If he's not setting an example of what to do then it has to be an example of what not to do.

Mo.. i really do appreciate your words.

Having the opportunity to engage in a real discussion, representing any/all perspectives is what a person can only hope for on a forum like this.

You, without question, represent this ideal.
I just figure that to be really informed a person owes to themselves to look below the surface and to hear what both sides of an issue have to say. I am a skeptic. Taking everything at face value is a mug's game. Oh, and I don't suffer fools gladly.

It's to bad that it comes to this, but you have had the opportunity to review the opinions of many across the country and observed the various extremes.
I can still recall the anger that Pinocchio's father stirred up when he gave us in the West his famous finger. There has always been an under current of separatist sympathies in the West but it was slow moving and in a shallow creek. Wexit is worrisome but in my heart of hearts I do not believe that any of the provinces will, in my lifetime at least, actually act to leave confederation.

Our buddy from Ontario feels that the solution is to set up internment camps and construct gallows to 'cleanse' Canada of this malaise... Sadly, people like that can not see past the root issues but only perpetuate the knee-jerk reactions(s) of the status quo neo-McCarthyism of which they call home.

Making it even harder to find common ground. And common ground is needed more than ever these days. Mind you, so is common sense and it appears to have left the room a long time ago.

The Vietnam War:

American Deaths: 70,000
Vietnamese Deaths: 1,200,000

The USA realized that they would pretty much have to kill off every single Viet Kong solider, as well as the entire civilian population to defeat the Vietnamese. America withdrew by 1975, and Saigon fell in April 1975. While technically a defeat, I don' think a death ratio of 17 to 1 is kicking the crap out of anyone.

Technically, pgs is correct. Canada was a British Colony in 1814, and not a country.
Cambodia and Laos came under control of the US through the CIA in the same way they controlled Iran's Government. The US went into Vietnam to get the poppy fields back that the French were given after WWII and 'lost'. The 'dip' in the pic below is when Afghanistan came into full production after 9/11.

Well, what's to really say?

How about we agree to disagree, but if there is a change out West relative to the 'relationship' it has with Canada, I opt to chalk it up to 2 convenient responses akin to what you have referenced:
  1. Capitalism
  2. Harper
You can decide which one to use on an as-needed basis

When it's all said and done, whether AB/SK decide to go it alone or to withdraw from the Equalization program, the net effect will be fewer dollars to Ottawa to be distributed to, well, where ever they decide.

Understanding that Que, Ont and the Maritime provinces have a serious issue relative to age demographics (more retirees than workers), ya might want to think about where the cash will come from to fill the coffers.

Anywho, you're problem, not mine

Trust me, I do.

But since you don't seem to care, I guess there's nothing further to discuss.

She lives in a province that benefits a lot from the transfer payments, she should ask Newfoundlanders how they feel about coughing up extra money for equalization in a down market. While Quebec won't allow their powerlines to cross their province to sell off their extra power.

Quebec to receive $1.4-billion equalization boost while oil-producing provinces face deficits

If you read anything I've posted about it, you'd know where I stand with Quebec.

And you'd know how I stand with NB getting transfer payments too.

.....Again, considering Quebec, I don't think they should be getting cash.

I think if there is a downturn going on in Alberta and Sask, they should be receiving some payments themselves....
And there it is. We aren't looking for a hand out or charity. We're looking for the ability to be successful or or remain successful without the rest of Canada who are suppose to be our countrymen (that whole 'united we stand....' when it suits the narrative) trying to impose restrictions on our lives and livelihoods. If anything, we could use the support of OUR Nation to remain successful.

We'll pay to play to be Canadians, but expect the ability to pay to play to not be removed from us if we're expected to pay, but then to have others mock us for just wanting to be able to be successful? You may not be, but you are not most of the narrative inside Canada not from the Prairies. I KNOW People who are out of work due to this Woke Posturing regarding the pipelines. I KNOW People who are worried and waiting to see what this Federal Gov't (Now a minority with support to come from the three other parties that campaigned against the Prairies) will do to remain in power at our expense. With 150,000 people out of work just from the Oil Industry in SK & AB, it's hard for most people out here not to personally KNOW Someone who isn't affected. We Need to get this Product to Markets outside the USA who will only pay pennies on the dollar 'cuz they know we're screwed (by our own countrymen) in being able to get this product anywhere but to the one country we're physically connected to in any significantly modern quantity. That's sure a Canadian thing to be proud of...."We don't use your dirty Western Oil or Alberta Beef and we'd better find a different source of Uranium to power 60% of Ontario if it's coming from Saskatchewan 'cuz we're the REAL Canadians!!" We are listening.

We buy Ontario's Cars and Drink our Milk (which isn't coming from the prairies) and smoke that BC Bud, and last night my Girlfriend & I steamed up lobster claws from Costco that they say are Canadian sourced (& also probably not from the Prairies). We pay our taxes and go about our lives and we watch and we listen. We aren't the hillbillies and hicks and dumb rednecks we're parodied as. On this very forum are members PROUD of the fact that they don't support all of Canada because they are REAL Canadians (selectively, I guess).

We have had a shit run of luck as of late with the Coldest winter in 84 years last year followed by a very dry Spring and a cold wet Summer & a cold wet Fall...and an early winter that hasn't done our agriculture any favours...and we're told (in Saskatchewan) that our plans on the Climate issue aren't up to Mr. Trudeau's standards so he'll impose his own vision upon us. Seriously....really? Justin, Get Bent!! There's the whole Global Warning/Changing/Cooling/Extreme'ing of Settled Science thing rearing it's head but that's a different topic for a different Thread where we can see Mr Trudeau posturing for the IPCC and various other celebrities as a Woke Political Religious Movement willing to sacrifice specific regions of OUR Nation to the AGW Gods (but not others...) when our only other physically connected trade partner that is tenfold our population isn't drinking the cool-aide? That is economic suicide for specific regions of OUR Nation (but again, not others...).

India had a drought so that they aren't ordering as much Prairie Potash for fertilizer this round? Well, things happen in cycles and it'll come given the chance. We still do multi-billion dollar trade with India and from the Prairies it's Lentils & Peas & other Pulse Crops...& Trudeau isn't going to interfere in that, right? Four years ago the question would have been, "How could he possibly undermine Canada on that front?" Freeland Tweeting her Twitter pissing off Saudi Arabia...so the Saudi's will stop buying Canadian wheat & barley? OK....Hauwei Exec arrested in Vancouver....so the Chinese will stop buying Canadian Canola? Ok...there seems to be a pattern here. As Canadians, we sure didn't elect Donald Trump to be the President of the ONE Country we're physically connected to, but we can quickly get off our duff's and react to the new reality instead of hamstringing ourselves like we've done. Getting pipelines built to the coasts was the immediate thing that should have been going full steam in Canada since November 10th, 2016.

When other Nations wish to punish Canada over diplomacy or in trade, they seem to see clearly how best to kick Canada right in the balls, & how to harm OUR Nation in a manner that is most destructive to OUR Nation. I read Newspaper articles and Op-Eds from those in Central Canada telling the rest of Canada that this Western alienation is a Joke and it'll blow over 'cuz it always has and it always will...and it's a minority of a minority, etc...yet how can other Nations see this and use it when the rest of Canada can't see this and claim it's not real....is it a 'forest for the trees' thing or just utter arrogance?

Does the West want out or does it really just want in? The reality is....it's not the West's choice either way but the choice of the rest OUR Nation.

This last Federal Election was telling. Look at it! The Prairies aren't just AB & SK. The Prairies voted for the one Party that wasn't Demonizing it and claiming to want to gut it and replace the economy with Unicorn & Fairy Dust sales that currently don't exist....& this coming from the same political slant that can't even successfully sell weed? Really? Oh Lord, that's a jagged pill to try and swallow.

The reaction to the above from the Left Coast, or Central Canada, or the 905, or even from some in the East? "Well, if you wanted a voice in OUR Canada, you should'a voted for one of the Parties promising to put your nutz in a vice for your own good, don't you know?" Again, is this a 'forest for the trees' thing inside Canada or just complete and utter arrogance? Is it willful blindness that our trade partners and competitors aren't afflicted with? It's not a matter of the Prairies taking their ball and going home, but a matter of the rest of Canada deciding if it'll include or exclude the above blue swath in what I hope will remain OUR Canada. I'd like to say, "Govern Yourselves Accordingly" but we just elected Justin Trudeau again somehow...

The Federal Election is now a couple of weeks in the past and what has happened? What has the Natural Governing Party of Canada done about anything so far? The World and Canada's place in it haven't sat idle for weeks waiting for Justin to get his poop in a group when he's had the last four years to accomplish that feat.
