Like I said, I calculate some of our bravest posters here'd look like full-fledged Leghorn pullets.
The deadliest foe Canada ever faced was the USSR. Funny how many couldn't be bothered.
Yet these are the same ones who worship Dumb Donald for his appearance of toughness, not understanding the difference between a loudmouth and a hard man.
I was reading some quotes from the Russian media today about D Day and how they were down playing the accomplishment. It was merely a second front. The West is deluded thinking that they ended the war. The real action was at Stalingrad, not Normandy.

There is half truth in all of that but what none of those Russians probably realize is that D Day saved Western Europe from the hellish nightmare of Soviet occupation and a World with a boot in it's face, forever.

Certainly true. The Allies landed four divisions at Normandy. The Soviets hit the Eastern Front with forty.

What we call world war 2 was actually the German/Russian war
Well, it became that after Hitler had the lame-brain notion of trying to annex the Soviet Union but for the first third of the war, Germany and the Soviets were semi-allies as they divvied up the spoils of Poland and the Baltic countries.

When this was going on, the war was no such thing.

You have conveniently truncated one of the most important periods in persuit of a trite comment.

History be damned, eh?

wtf are you talking about?

The Germans took over Europe with very little opposition.

The fighting didn't start until he got into Russia and by the time DDay came around it had already been decided

I suggest you start reading at the beginning of September 1939. You've skipped over the first two years when the Russians were their neutral allies.

I didn't skip the first two years - I merely ignored it as insignificant

lets see now - Dunkirk was june 1940 when the allies ran away from those nasty germans and hid in England until when was it. June 1944?

Wow

4 years until they worked up the nerve to get back in there

Of course by that time the russians had lost 20 million

Seems you don't know much about WW2. Did you hear what happened to Coventry? It was much more than Germany and Russia believe me! Sometimes "better to remain silent and appear a fool, than to open ones mouth and remove all doubt". :)

Not to be personally offensive, but in general:
How can someone look dumb when they open their mouth and their head disappears?
:)
I think that's called "Vacant" maybe.

I think that is a slight simplification, although both Germany and Russia were heavily involved, I think the Allies deserve most of the credit for winning that war and Churchill in particular. I don't know the details of the Russian fatalities but perhaps Stalin was more to blame for that than the actual war.

THAT has to be about the most ignorant statement ever made about WW2. England bore a lot of the brunt and we mainly have Churchill to thank for emerging from it victoriously. While Russia involved it wasn't one of the key players, in the early days for sure.
Britain also did not fall to the Germans and that radically changed the course of history back in 1940.

The real question is how did the LGBTQWERTY peoplekind fight the war.
