Did the sale for 900 Armored Vehicles go through?
John Baird is protecting his assets. It seems the threat of a trade war with Canada is how the Saudis are going to make sure the corruption of the West is working. And in return I guess the autocrats in the WH and elsewhere will not fight for human rights and against corruption the world over:

‘This has not been a good hour for Canada’: John Baird slams Trudeau government on Saudi state TV

Saudi-controlled media are going nuts with (Baird’s) statements, they’re taking it as proof that Canada is wrong and that Saudi Arabia is right,” said Iyad el-Baghdadi, an Oslo-based Arab affairs observer and president of the pro-democracy Kawaakibi Center.

He added: “I have no idea what he was thinking.”

In a six-minute segment excerpted on the network’s website, Baird (incorrectly identified as “John Byrd”) also praises Saudi Arabia for its opposition to Iran and ISIL, calling them “like-minded allies.

“This relationship is too important to have it deteriorated,” he said.

How do you feel about union participation going from 30% in the US to under 10%? Good? Bad? Do you want that in Canada?

<snip>

We don't need that security council seat. Forget it. Not bending to corrupting Saudis is more important.
Have you as a fervent liberal related to justyns' office that he should forget about his pet project?

Times change, private sector unions were utile and gave grunts a voice and a lever decades ago however corps soon learned to evaded benefits by hiring part timers. Globalization also empowered corps to easily ecomomize on wages and taxes, offshore labour was ever so cheap, tax incentives too rich to ignore and no environmental gauntlet to run. Private sector unions took a huge hit but public sector unions just kept on raking in raises and growing.

Curios sez:
If anything, the oil customer has the leverage, right now and the Saudis can kiss our asses so that we will deign to buy their oil.

Saudis said oil will continue to flow so no prob unless some prefer to slice off their nose to spite their face. I'd wager putin would be happy to drop off a few bls to help out, trump wouldn't mind as he and putin are buddies, may ruffle justyns' feathers though but who cares maritime energy is of more import than his bloated ego.
