If only the Conservatives were this resourceful.

Notley's Bill 12 'shows bold leadership,' say Alberta oil and gas producers

Alberta's oil and gas producers are calling Bill 12 a regrettable but necessary step in the battle over the Trans Mountain pipeline expansion.

Bill 12, titled Preserving Canada's Economic Prosperity Act, gives the Alberta government the ability to retaliate against B.C. over any delays to the expansion by driving up gas prices or restricting shipments of other energy products.

While industry officials support the move, they hope the legislation revealed by Alberta Premier Rachel Notley and Energy Minister Marg McCuaig-Boyd on Monday doesn't need to be put to work.

Mark Sholz, of the Canadian Association of Oilwell Drilling Contractors, welcomes the proposed legislation.

"I think it's very prudent and shows bold leadership on the part of the premier, and it's certainly something we're supporting as a direction or a strategy."

And what are your thoughts on the matter ? Is this the proverbial feather on camels back as far as Canadian unity is concerned ?

Meanwhile in SK we smile and wave.

And support AB............with cash! How great is that, pete. Go Saskatchewan

She's fighting for her political life. Not unlike Horgan who is one confidence vote away from being tossed.

Horgan will be a one-trick pony when he is thrown out of government come next election, RCS. Make it so, Universe. Weaver could survive considering the intellectual level of his constituents, however it will be in a much more diminished position where he will no longer be able to unduly influence weak-minded, power-hungry politicos making them toadies to his Utopian ideas of what society should be in spite of them being unrealistic and insupportable - at least in the short term, if not in the long.

It will be GOOD riddance to both of them.

Meanwhile in SK we smile and wave.

...........and legislation!!!

Saskatchewan Rocks!

I will be remembering this the next time nationalizing oil and gas is discussed.

Which I guess will be about 2 seconds after this is implemented

I guess I shouldn't state the obvious in what you've just posted.

It would be too obvious.
I gave you an opportunity to elaborate on the article you posted . Nada . Why not ? Now you are trying to goad RCS to elaborate , why ?

Yes, that is what this thread is about.

Fukking Trumptards man.

So dumb.
Please explain to us mere peons what exactly this thread is about , as you wouldn’t comment on the story you posted to start the thread .

What are you going to remember ? The breakup of Canada perhaps ? Will you cheer ?

So BC illegally attempts to block a pipeline from Alberta and Alberta decides to illegally cut off the flow of fuel to BC. It is like watching children throwing sand at each other in a playground.

Actually BC is attempting to stop the pipeline via the Supreme Court.

As are First Nations.

The fatal flaw of Alberta's oil expansion

In fact, the bad news for Alberta’s oilpatch has been building for a decade. That’s when shipbuilders in South Korea, China and Japan began constructing what has become a global fleet of about 750 VLCCs (with 50 more ordered for 2018), and the scrapping of Aframax class tankers began accelerating. This in turn drove down the benchmark price for ocean oil shipping, triggered the LOOP terminal upgrade, effectively consigned oil terminals like those in Burnaby, B.C. to minor league status, and left oil deposits far from deep port tidewater at a significant cost disadvantage.
When the undeniably dirty content of Alberta’s bitumen deposits is added into these negative cost equations, global oil players know when to cut and run. Compared to conventional heavy crude, bitumen contains 102 times more copper, 21 times more vanadium, 11 times more sulphur, 11 times more nickel, six times more nitrogen, and five times more lead, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. It also has a much lower ratio of hydrogen to carbon, which degrades combustion efficiency.
This helps explain why, in the recent past, oil giants such as Exxon-Mobil, Conoco-Phillips, Royal Dutch Shell, Total S.A., and Norwegian oil company Statoil have abandoned gargantuan bitumen deposits in western Canada and/or taken billion-dollar write-downs, to the howls of shareholders.

It always makes me laugh when I listen to people explaining how they are going to fleece the Chinese.

Some bozo (on another platform) tried to tell me that the pipeline was being built for the Chinese. Alberians think the Chinese are stupid?
